Friends of the Library Annual Booksale
Friday, October 28th for cardholders Saturday, October 29th for the general public
The large annual Friends Book Sale will take place starting on
Saturday, October 29th.
The sale
starts for
Dover card holders (remember to bring your library card) on Friday, Oct. 28th
and for the
general public on Saturday, Oct. 29th
during regular library hours. We have thousands of books and other items for sale. Come early for the best selection. The Book sale
ends on Nov. 13th. Buyers who spend $25 or more at the sale will be entered in a drawing for a chance to win a set of winter scene photo notecards from this month's artist Sue Lyndes.

The Friends of the Library present: Rita Parisi as Sarah Orne Jewett in Gothic Victorian Tales by Candlelight
Tuesday, November 15th at 7pm in the Library Lecture Hall
Portraying Sarah Orne Jewett, Parisi will entertain with theatrical storytelling (not readings)! A native of South Berwick Maine, Sarah Orne Jewett's stories highlight the everyday lives of New Englanders during the Victorian era, often reflecting the mysterious and supernatural atmosphere of this region.

History of Dover Cotton Mills

Library Director Cathy Beaudoin will present a historical overview of the Cocheco Cotton Mills history in Dover on
Monday, November 21st at 7pm.
The mills are integral to the history of Dover. If you live or work in Dover, the mill buildings are a familiar part of the downtown landscape. You may even work or live in the mill buildings. You will hear about the entire history of the cotton mills from their humble beginnings through their heyday and eventual decline and closure. Don't miss this unique opportunity to learn more of the history of Dover!

What can Reiki, Hypnotism, and Tapping do for you?
Monday, November 28 @ 7pm
Join Andrew Morris, owner of A Better Life Hypnosis & Reiki, located in Newburyport, MA, for an exciting, informative and fun one-hour program. Topics covered will be: relaxation exercise, hypnosis, Reiki , EFT , suggestibility tests (how hypnotizable someone is) and group meditation. Hands on demonstrations by volunteers will take place during this program. The program is free and open to the public.

Harry Potter Alliance
The Harry Potter Alliance meets the last Wednesday of the month. This month's meeting will be in the Trustees Room on
Wednesday, November 30th at 6:30pm.
They have planned a trash pickup day on
Saturday, November 19th from 9am-noon.
Signup online to participate and meet at the library on that day.

The Dover Public Library is creating a new Teen Advisory Board (TAB) made up of teen volunteers in grade 7 -12 who are interested in shaping the library's programs and services aimed at middle and high-school students. Meetings will be held monthly. If you are interested in participating in TAB complete an application and return to the Dover Public Library or email to

November's artist of the month is Dover resident Sue Lyndes. Sue will display a variety of photos from travels near and far. Sue's philosophy is "shoot from the heart." We hope you get captured right away by the natural beauty of our world, both large and small.

Handmade Holiday
We are offering a variety of crafting programs before Christmas. We will make 3D paper snowflakes, pom-pom garlands, holiday gift tags, and more! Check our event calendar for details on the crafts, dates and times. Classes will be limited and signup required.

Book Face Competition
Win a $50 Dover Dollars gift certificate good at many local stores and restaurants, by submitting a bookface photo using a library book. Submit via email by November 30th. Voting for a favorite takes place December 4-10th with a winner announced on December 12th. See the website after November 14th for more information.

Dover Public Library at the Polls!
If you live in Ward 2 or 4 you will see us at those polling places on Election Day. Stop by and sign up for a library card, borrow some audiobooks and DVDs, and see what else the library has to offer!
The Library will have a display at the library of sample ballots and voting information the week before the election.

closed on Veterans Day, Friday, November 11th.
