America and the world watched in shock as back-to-back massive hurricanes smashed into the United States - Harvey devastating Houston, and Irma leaving a vast path of destruction from the Caribbean all the way into Georgia, and beyond.
The incredible pain and suffering, loss of life, and epic destruction of property these storms are creating is clearly the most serious threat we face, far more serious than terrorism (which we're spending many hundreds of billions fighting).

It is now a moral imperative to quickly solve climate change. People are dying by the thousands! Millions of people's lives are being destroyed. Cities and infrastructure is being wrecked. Solving climate change is now the most important mission of humanity,
far more serious and deadly than terrorism. We need solutions as big and comprehensive as the problem if we are going to solve it.
We must now act on a grand scale to solve climate change, and save lives! We must rapidly change our transportation and energy systems to cut the carbon output causing this.

Inaction is no longer an option. The massive costs of doing nothing are adding up to way more than the solutions would cost. We must act decisively, quickly, and in a big way to solve this menace.

energy systems to rapidly reduce carbon emissions.

The record Atlantic hurricane season in 2005, fueled by unusually warm Atlantic Ocean temperatures, saw an unprecedented 28 named storms and a record four category 5 monster storms. Among them was Katrina, which destroyed much of New Orleans when it made landfall. Nearly 4,000 lives had been taken by the time that season ended.

We are calling on Congress, Governors, Mayors, and business leaders to take immediate action to solve climate change. This is now a moral imperative to protect the people and the planet in trouble. The time to lead is now! The time to block progress and deny climate change is over. This is a national emergency that needs major national action!
Elected officials and business leaders who stand in the way of climate progress should be held responsible for the ongoing damage, deaths, and destruction.

We're calling for an emergency Climate Action Fund set up immediately by Congress with $200 Billion to fund and fast-track projects:
$100 Billion for High Speed Rail, and
$100 Billion for Renewable Energy

A national high speed rail system is the fastest way to reduce carbon from our transportation and energy sectors, and is the centerpiece of a sustainable America. With trains powered by electricity generated 100% by renewables, this can cut the nation's energy consumption and carbon output by 70% - as fast as it can be constructed!
No other solution can scale up as fast.

As we get serious about solving climate change, we must evaluate every project, every investment, and every system as to their role in either causing or solving climate change. Right now, America is still investing hundreds of billions a year in more roads, airport expansions, oil industry subsidies, and more that all make climate change worse. All our public investments need to go 100% towards systems and technologies that solve climate change and reduce carbon. High speed rail is the largest scale technology that can transform America the fastest to non-carbon transportation.
