Health and Resilience: The Psychological Harm of Anti-Immigrant Policies WEBINAR
Sept. 20th at 11am
We invite you to join individuals from the California Immigrant Policy Center, ASPIRE, UMMA Community Clinic and UndocuHealing for their webinar on how anti-immigrant policies impact the mental health of immigrants. The recent announcement to end the DACA program, the continuing detention and deportation of immigrant people, and the anti-immigrant climate is creating a physic toll on immigrants and their families.
Everyone is welcome to join this important conversation and learn about the Pol-ICE entanglement and anti-immigrant policies that impact the wellbeing of immigrants, listen and learn from directly impacted people, identify mental health services available to California immigrants, and learn about models of care to address the mental and physical well-being of immigrants.
Deportation policies, anti-immigrant climate, and this Administration's action to end the DACA program create anxiety, anger, and shame, as well as break community trust between immigrant communities and government agencies. These policies, along with traumatic and often violent migratory experiences, put the physical and mental health of immigrants at risk. In this session, we will hear from advocates and community members about issues that affect the psyche of immigrant people and key ways to support their wellbeing.

NAMI CA Family & Diverse Training Surveys
NAMI CA is preparing the 2017/2018 Training Schedule for Family trainings (F2F, Basics, Homefront, and FSG) and Diverse trainings (Peer-to-Peer, Persona a Persona, Mental Health 101, De Familia a Familia, and Conexion). In this current contract, the objective is to specifically reach diverse audiences through the Peer-to-Peer program.
We would like to hear feedback from the affiliates to find out which training programs are most needed and in what areas. The links for both surveys are located below. We will also send the links directly through email to affiliate Presidents and Executive Directors as well. Also included below our tips from NAMI CA and NAMI National on how to recruit for program leaders.
Please submit your responses to the surveys by September 29th. We are anticipating that trainings will begin after October 2017. Again we would like to thank you for your patience during this process and look forward to conducting these trainings.
