Public invited to comment on URMD Pedestrian, Biking Improvement projects
Public comment on the top Pedestrian and Biking Improvement candidates being considered for funding in FY 2018-19 and FY 2019-20 is being solicited by Washington County's Urban Road Maintenance District Advisory Committee (URMDAC).
Comments will be accepted through Oct. 8. Candidates can be reviewed and comments entered on the interactive map. URMDAC will review comments at its Oct. 18 meeting and then recommend projects to the Washington County Board of Commissioners to be included in Urban Road Maintenance District's FY 2018-19 and FY 2019-20 budgets.
The Urban Road Maintenance District (URMD) funds small-scale pedestrian and biking improvement projects, which include sidewalks, pathways, bike lanes and paved shoulders. Since 2011, 41 URMD Pedestrian and Biking Improvement Projects totaling over $14 million have been funded.
Contact Steve Franks, Urban Roads Services Coordinator, 503-846-7653, for more information.
Pedestrian crossings selected for survey, design
Eight pedestrian crossings on 170th and 185th avenues and Baseline Road have been selected for survey and design work for future improvements through the Arterial Pedestrian Crossing Analyses project.
The crossing locations are as follows:
The project is funded by a Metro Regional Flexible Funds grant. The project draft report included recommendations for improvements at 12 crossings. The grant provided survey and preliminary design for only eight sites. An August 2017 online open house solicited public comment, which helped Washington County Department of Land Use & Transportation (LUT) staff trim the list to eight.
