Service Leader:
Celso Mireles

Sunday, July 30, 10:30 AM

Book Group
Sunday, July 30, at 9:00 AM in Annex B
The Book Group engages in informal discussions of a variety of books. We typically discuss recent nonfiction books on topics such as science, religion, sociology, history, current events, environmental issues and justice, but we don't exclude fiction. Books we read are proposed by the members and voted on by the group. We typically spend 4 to 8 weeks on a book, discussing portions as we read. For more information, contact Mike Peterson at 602-943-9543, or come to one of our Sunday meetings.

Upcoming Classes & Events
Maryland School Partnership
Many students come to Maryland School from families that have a difficult time providing support for their children, school budgets are inadequate to maintain needed programs, and teachers often spend their own money to have necessary supplies.  Also many students require extra help to master grade level skills.  Your help is needed in a variety of ways!  Please check the July/August Horizons for more information about our partnership or stop by the Justice Ministry table on a Sunday. We will be collecting supplies from July 23 - August 13.

Path to Membership
Saturday, August 12, from 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM
Pathway to Membership is a class that invites you to meet with other folks considering membership and hear more from ministers, leaders and recently-joined members about what it means to be a member of our congregation. You will have the opportunity to learn about the history of Unitarian Universalism and UUCP, get to know each other in groups and ask questions.
The class ends with an invitation to join by signing the membership book and pledging your support. There is no pressure to join. We recognize membership is a commitment, and we hope people will take their time before joining.
To register, stop by the welcome table in the lobby and fill out the registration, register on the UUCP website or contact Janine Gelsinger.
