JUNIOR ROOM EVENTS
Wednesday, August 2 at 3:00 p.m. Flow Circus! All ages. A fun performance for all! Unplugged, challenging skills such as juggling, plate spinning, and flower stick twirling create a climate of playful learning. Come be entertained and learn something, too!  Please register.  Not a drop off.
 
Saturday, August 5 at 10:30 a.m. It's National Clown Day . Stories, a craft and a snack all about silly clowns. For ages 2-9. Please register. Not a drop off.
 
Friday, August 11 at 6:00 p.m. Family Dinner and a Movie. Boss Baby (PG). Bring along your dinner and enjoy the show in our air conditioned, surround sound Junior Room. For all ages, 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.  Please register .

Saturday, August 19 at 11:00 a.m. Jungle Jamboree . We're having lots of live animals visit the library for you to meet and learn about. Come see some new furry (and scaly) friends! Please register.  Not a drop off.
 
Sunday, August 27 from 9:00 a.m to 3:00 p.m. Baby Sitting Training Course. Come learn important skills for child care, behavior management, emergency responses and running a small business. For kids in grades 6 and up. There is a $20 materials fee for the handbook. Please bring a bag lunch. Space is limited. Please register.

Wednesday, August 23 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Explore the Ancient Art of Henna.
Join henna artist Elyse Sadtler on Wednesday, August 23 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. to learn all about henna. In this workshop you will explore what henna is, where it comes from, its history, the science of henna on skin and basic design elements. You will also receive your own kit, which includes henna paste and supplies, to practice drawing designs on yourself, family and friends. The cost of attending the workshop is $20 per person. It is intended for ages 12 and older. Please register by August 16 at 5:00 p.m. to reserve your spot. Reservations are only accepted if accompanied by $20 per person. Remember, we are always looking for Volunteers for this summer! Volunteers are needed to do tasks such as: Set Up, Book Sorting, Book Pricing, Table Stocking, Opening & Closing (tarping) and more. Please email Dori Smith at [email protected] or sign-up at the front desk at the Library.
 
Book Donations are always welcome! We are pleased to accept your books year round. If you have a large donation, please call ahead to facilitate unloading the books at the old firehouse.
 
We can you give a tax card for a charitable donation. All sales benefit the Kent Memorial Library. We are always especially in need of current fiction, including children's books, jigsaw puzzles, movies on DVD, music and books on CDs, and non-fiction books. (there are particular items we cannot accept, such as magazines, Reader's Digest condensed books, older textbooks, VCR tapes, encyclopedias, books which have a mildew odor, books on cassettes.)

Summer Reading Program for Adults. The staff at the Kent Memorial Library is happy to offer a KML Book Bag containing your choice of a gift certificate to (bakery) or (coffee shop). Beginning on Monday, July 3, all adults are invited to read a good book. Adults will fill out a ticket for each book they read or listen to (including eBooks). The winning ticket will be drawn on Wednesday, August 30. The more books you read or listen to, the better chances you have at winning the prize.

2017 Car Raffle . The Kent Memorial Library has chosen a 1998 Porsche Boxster as this year's annual fund raising raffle car. This arena red with gray interior has very low mileage. Tickets are $20. Raffle tickets are being sold in the Library and during the annual Library Book Sale. The car will be parked in front of the Library. The winning ticket will be drawn on at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 29 at the conclusion of the 41st Annual Kent Pumpkin Run. Information is available on the Library's website. Ticket holders need not be present to win.

Chess. Our chess boards and tables, inside and out are open to young and old, beginners to advanced. Team combinations are encouraged - for instance, grandparent and parent-child, co-workers, friends. All are welcome to use our chess equipment.
 
Kent Library Association Membership. For more information about joining the Kent Library Association, please ask at the front desk or go to the Library's website and click on "KLA Membership." Join or renew your KLA membership online. There are many benefits to becoming a KLA member.
