A Message from the Executive Director

Here we are in the height of summer fun and fundraising in Maine - and we've got some new and upgraded tricks up our proverbial sleeve.

To take advantage of so many opportunities, we have a new donation platform,
and with it  you can kick up your summer fun by raising money for the Fund!
null
Bella Cimeno of Ellsworth   is  doing just that - using her 'gap year' to ride
her bicycle across the country  while raising awareness and money to  promote
the power of women and girls! You can follow her blog, progress, and donate here .

If you are interested in using an event to fund raise for us (that isn't already raising funds for another non-profit - we're nicer than that!) I can make it easy peasy -  just call or e-mail me to create a 'landing page' which you can share with friends and family via e-mail and social media. Or, make up your own event: climb Mt. Kathadin or bike or swim; do what you love, for your own reasons, like Bella is.

So what else are we up to?

Save the Date: Intentional Leadership in the New Economy. Thursday November 2, 2017; 3:00 - 7:30 at USM Hannaford Hall in Portland. Local leaders will discuss how to create corporate cultures which not only attract women, but also ensure they have equal standing at the table. More information is coming soon.

Looking for a volunteer opportunity? We're reconnecting with our committees for events, marketing, and we even could use some office help occasionally. If you're ready to share your time and talent, call or e-mail me today. The more heads and hands, the better the product!

We have a lot going on, and we're working out the details while you enjoy the summer. Keep your eyes and e-mail boxes open, you'll be seeing us around!

Until next time,

     Megan Hannan

New Grants Underway
2017-2018 Grantee Site Visits Being Scheduled!

The Maine Women's Fund is currently working with the organizations that we funded in 2016-2017 to wrap up their grant year.  All our grantees to fill out a short, reflective final report that allows the Fund to read all about the amazing things the grantees did over the course of their entire grant year.  For grantees with plans and/or spending that didn't go exactly as they thought it would, we all have the opportunity to learn from that, too! This year we had a grantee who, due to unforeseen circumstances, hadn't spent all their grant funds. We were able to recapture those dollars and provide close to full funding for the one 2017-2018 grantee we'd only been able to partially fund when we made our announcements this spring. We have an updated 2017-2018 grant list as a result (ADD LINK).

In addition to providing the Fund with final reports at the end of their grant period, each of our grantees hosts the Fund for a site visit sometime between September and June. We're currently working with the grantees to schedule these for the coming months. This is an opportunity for the Fund's board, grants committee, staff and/or members of the Fund community to visit the organizations we've funded to learn more about their work as an organization and how their grant is going. We also talk a lot about progress on the outcomes they were expecting.

As a statewide organization, site visits are a really important way for the Fund to get to see first hand what is happening in a particular Maine community, population, or field of work. Space is limited to keep the size of our site visits to a reasonable number, but if you are interested in learning more about the Maine Women's Fund site visits planned for the coming year, p lease contact Kimberly Crichton at [email protected] or 774-5513 x206 for more information.

On behalf of the staff and board of the Maine Women's Fund, thank you for reading and for all you do to support Maine women and girls.
