Square 1 Art Fundraiser is Back for the 3rd Year!
Students will be creating art in Mr. Watson's class this week.
Their art will be sent to Square 1 and transformed into free
stickers for every student, along with an order form for many great gifts!

This is a parents-only event. You'll tour your childrens' classrooms, meet the teachers, and learn about the curriculum for the year. Often teachers will use this night as an opportunity for parents to sign up for classroom events, conferences & more, so be sure to let your child's teacher know if you cannot attend.

Back to School Garden Reception:
The Green Team invites you to visit the vegetable garden on Back to School Night. We will be there from 6:30 to 7pm or take a break from the indoor heat anytime during the evening and visit the garden! We'll have yummy lemonade and zucchini bread (made from our garden grown zucchini).
After School Garden Club:
If you haven't yet signed up for the After School Garden club, please do so! Details are below. Registration is due by September 15th.
Green Team Meetings:
Please join a discussion to share ideas for this school year- plantings, tastings, parties and festivities. September 25th at 8pm at the KRS library and September 27th at 10am at the Garden. We invite all working parents, dads, anybody who wants to lend a hand and get involved.
Trashless Everyday (formerly known as Trashless Tuesday):
Mr. Joe doesn't even bother to put out a third garbage bin during lunch this school year! Parents and kids have done a wonderful job in using reusable containers and eliminating use of single serve packaging for lunch. This year let's get it down to ONE GARBAGE CAN during lunch and let's eliminate trash from classroom snacks. Please see the attached flyer for more information. F.A.N. Club- Food, Agriculture, and Nutrition Club
F.A.N. Club is an after school club for any age grade that specializes in organic gardening and nutrition education. Our mission is to bring the science of healthy eating into schools so that club members not only learn, but are empowered to teach their peers.
Each lesson is comprised of gardening and nutrition components. The students will learn how to properly plant and harvest various fruits, vegetables, and herbs while learning WHY we are planting/eating each crop. At the conclusion of each class, students will receive a handout highlighting the nutrition facts of the "Crop of the Day" (or a nutrition related paper) as well as a kid friendly recipe they can make at home (with proper supervision) using that specific crop once it is ready to be harvested from the F.A.N. garden.
By utilizing a pre and post-test on the first and last day of the club, we are able to prove that our curriculum teaches students not only about healthy eating and lifestyle, but about the sciences of organic gardening and life cycle of plants with noticeably improved tests scores over the course of the club.
Fall 2017 F.A.N. Club (Food, Agriculture, and Nutrition Club) will be held every Wednesday after school from 3:15pm-4:15pm at the KRS vegetable garden. The F.A.N. Club season runs for 10 weeks with an enrollment fee of $110.00 ($10.00 per class and $10.00 for supplies). Class will be held rain or shine! All payments can be made by check addressed to "Nutritiva" and mailed to
120 E. Main Street # 246, Ramsey, NJ 07446 . Please contact Alyssa for appropriate enrollment forms to send in with check.
