FOSS Infratec NOVA is Approved

The USDA/GIPSA has just made it official that the FOSS Infratec NOVA is approved for the analysis of protein/wet gluten for wheat, protein for barley, protein/oil for soybeans, and protein/oil/starch for corn.  The newest generation is reflected in a slight name change from the well-known Infratec 1241 to the Infratec NOVA with the same reliable ANN calibrations that have been the industry standard many years

U.S. Drought Monitor

Above-normal temperatures continued in the Dakotas and the Nebraska Panhandle this past week. North Dakota saw an increase in the area of severe drought.

USDA, USTR Announce Vietnam Reopens Market to U.S. DDGS Exports

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) announce that the government of Vietnam notified the United States that it will resume imports of American distillers dried grains (DDGS).

Vietnam suspended the imports in 2016 after reported detection of quarantine pests in U.S. shipments. Following a series of meetings, the two governments released a joint statement pledging to work closely together.

"This is great news and i am pleased that the U.S. exporters will once again be able to ship DDGS to Vietnam, which is one of the fastest-growing global markets for U.S. agriculture," said Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue.

NDGA, NAEGA Commend Secretary of Agriculture Perdue for Relocating FGIS to AMS
The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Federal Grain Inspection Service (FGIS) commended Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue for relocating the agency to the department's Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS). Perdue announced the relocation of FGIS to AMS on September 7th.

Perdue separated FGIS from the Packers and Stockyards Administration within the Grain Inspection, Packers and Stockyards Administration (GIPSA) - two agencies with very different missions, functions and roles.

"We strongly support this much-needed realignment of FGIS within AMS, which we believe will help the agency better fulfill its statutory obligation to provide reliable, accurate, timely, impartial and cost-effective services," said NGFA President Randy Gordon and NAEGA President and Chief Executive Officer Gary Martin.
