Arbor

Brooklyn Tweed Arbor
If you're anything like us, fall makes you want to cozy up with your knitting and a cup of tea. Even if you're no longer in school, fall has a back-to-school vibe, like a new beginning even as the days get shorter and the leaves change colour. What could be more appropriate for October than a new yarn from Brooklyn Tweed, the champions of timeless, cozy knitting? Probably nothing, we think.

This new DK-weight yarn is in keeping with the stylish colour palette and dedication to American manufacturing that Brooklyn Tweed is known for, but in other respects, Arbor is very different from her woolly siblings. It is worsted rather than woolen spun, and it comes in thirty all-new solid colours. These attributes make it perfect for textured, cabled, and fair-isle projects. It's very sturdy and has fabulous stitch definition, and it is launching today, along with a collection of accessory patterns designed to accentuate the characteristics that make this yarn special. Do come into the shop or check our website to see Arbor for yourself!

Within

Timber Cardigan
Continuing the theme of cozy knitting for cooler weather, two of Beehive's favourite local designers, Shannon Cook and Jane Richmond, have a new book, Within. Beehive is delighted that Shannon and Jane will be joining us this Saturday, October 22nd, from
1 pm to 3 pm to sign copies, chat with knitters, and show off the gorgeous samples from this book as well as from their previous collections (copies of Island and Journey will also be available in store on the day of the signing).

"Timber," one of the sweaters in the book, has been one of the most popular patterns on Ravelry since it was launched, and the other patterns are equally appealing. Believe us, Within encapsulates everything there is to love about winter on Vancouver Island: as they put it in the book, "Here's to winter, to cozy cabins and lantern light, to settling in to the scent of freshly cut wood and heavenly candles, and to moments shared beside the warmth of a roaring fire." One peek at the beautiful and beautifully styled knits photographed in and around a renovated barn in Metchosin will make you want to pick up your needles and get knitting! Pop in on Saturday, get your book signed, and enter our draw for a $25 gift certificate.

Jared Flood

Brooklyn Tweed Woolens
In addition to Arbor and Within, Beehive has something exciting for you to mark on your calendars for December 9th between 6 pm and 9 pm: a visit from Jared Flood of Brooklyn Tweed! He will be signing copies of Woolens, his collection of accessory patterns knit in Loft, Shelter, and Quarry. Jared is the man behind Brooklyn Tweed.
His meticulous attention to pattern detail and dedication to producing 100% American-made yarns have earned him the admiration of knitters around the world.

Many of you are doubtless fans of Jared's beautiful designs - certainly, his timeless, knitterly aesthetic has all the Beehivers captivated - so don't miss your chance to meet the man himself!
