October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Are you Aware?
Domestic violence is the willful intimidation, physical assault, battery, sexual assault, and/or other abusive behavior as part of a systematic pattern of power and control perpetrated by one intimate partner against another. It includes physical violence, sexual violence, threats, and emotional or psychological abuse. The frequency and severity of domestic violence varies dramatically.

* 1 in 3 women has been physically abused by an intimate partner.
* 1 in 7 women has been stalked.
* The presence of a gun in a domestic violence situation increases the risk of homicide by 500%.
* Domestic violence accounts for 15% of all violent crime.

* 24-hour HOTLINE receives 1,000 calls a month
* 88-bed shelter for women and their children fleeing domestic violence
* On-site school for Kindergarten through 6th grade students
* Serves 3 meals a day, 365 days a year, totaling 55,000 meals a year
* Provides immediate needs: clothing, personal care items, job training, compassionate care and therapy.
