The Liberty Public Schools Board of Education met for its regular meeting on Monday, October 17, 2016.  Following, is a recap of that meeting:
Meeting Highlights
Lewis Recognized for State Award
The Board of Education congratulated Mr. Brandon Lewis for recently being named the Missouri Project Lead the Way LAUNCH Teacher of the Year, as part of this month's Honoring Excellence.  Mr. Lewis will be formally recognized at the state PLTW conference later this month. Congratulations to Mr. Lewis on this exciting news! 
Board Business
LPS Receives Solid Audit Report
Ms. Diana Closterman, representing the auditing firm Westbrook and Co., provided the Board with a detailed summary of the recent audit performed on Liberty Public Schools. Ms. Closterman shared LPS is in good financial standing and there were no causes for concern with regard to policies and procedures in the comprehensive review. She concluded by stating this was an overall solid audit report. To view the summary of the recently completed audit, click here.
District Assessment Report Presented
Mr. Christopher Hand, LPS Director of Assessment, provided the Board with an annual District Assessment Report. Mr. Hand emphasized that every building within the district has many reasons to celebrate successes, while also pointing out that all buildings also have opportunities for growth in many areas. LPS Employee Insurance/Benefits Package Approved
The Board approved the 2017 LPS employee insurance/benefits package that was presented to the Board last month. To view several accompanying documents related to this approval, click here

Next Board Meeting Scheduled for Monday, Nov. 21

The Board will hold its next regular meeting on Monday, November 21, at the District Administration Center. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m.

Ways to Stay Informed on Board Happenings

The public has several opportunities to stay informed of LPS Board of Education happenings. Following, are methods in which monthly Board meetings may be viewed.

 

Channel 18 Coverage

Liberty Public Schools Cable Television Channel, KLPS-TV Channel 18, records each Board meeting that takes place on the third Monday of each month and replays the meeting for approximately one week, usually beginning the Thursday following the regularly-scheduled meeting. They will be shown daily at 8 a.m.  Households need to have Time Warner Cable service to receive Channel 18 programming.
