A Look Ahead to Next 5 Years and Beyond
Five years ago our city was at the tipping point. Office vacancy rates in Technology Park were too high, empty strip malls were appearing on Holcomb Bridge Road, and the rights of way in this once resort-like community were beginning to look unkempt.
Home values were stable, due largely to great local schools, but housing choices, especially for empty nesters, retirees and millennials were nonexistent. Other communities were organized and focused on redevelopment to attract companies and citizens. Most significantly, as a community, we had no central gathering place. No downtown; no sense of place.
Today, it's a very different story

You are invited to an open house to participate in a S.R. 141 Corridor Study on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 from 6 - 8 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers.
The purpose of this project is to study the feasibility of improving the efficiency, operation and safety of the S.R. 141 corridor (Peachtree Parkway/Medlock Bridge Road) from Holcomb Bridge Road to the Chattahoochee River.
The study will be used to develop viable, multi-modal, and cost-effective short- and long-term solutions.
The meeting is an opportunity for you to share your opinion and discuss the findings and conclusions of the study. Your input will then be taken and integrated with the improvement recommendations in the final report.
The meeting will be an open house so drop in at your convenience anytime between 6-8 p.m.

Report Maintenance, Needed Repairs on City App or Website
See a sidewalk that needs repairs, a pothole, or street light that's out in Peachtree Corners? Now you can report it on your smartphone using the city's app called "PC Fix-it." It's free and available for both Android and iPhones. Browse the app store using the search term "Peachtree Corners" to locate the app.
The feature allows you to create service requests and submit photos right from your mobile phone. You can also submit a service request using the city's website,
www.peachtreecornersga.gov. Locate the "Residents" tab on the homepage then select "
Report an Issue - Fix it" in the pull down menu. You can either enter an address or simply point to a spot on the map.

Wasting Water Could Result in a Fine
Despite the increase in rain, the county's water reserve remains low. Gwinnett County is among one of 12 counties in north Georgia under a
Drought Level I declaration. The restriction
allows landscape and lawn irrigation, before 10 a.m. and after 4 p.m.
To improve water conservation efforts, the city has updated its Land Development ordinance. The two revisions include:
- All new conveyer car washes must use recycled water.
- Business and residents who waste water due to not repairing a broken irrigation system may be issued citations by the city.

Annual Burn Ban Ends Sept. 30
The burn ban will officially be lifted on October 1. Please be advised that if you are planning on burning you MUST first check with Gwinnett County Fire Marshall as to whether or not it is an allowable burn day. No burning is permitted on Sunday.
Many factors come into play that affect whether or not you can burn and this can change on a daily basis.

Building green does not necessarily mean starting from scratch or spending more money. There are many ways to improve the green factor in existing homes by using longer-lasting and sustainable materials.

Paper Shredding, Electronics Recycling Event Planned for Spring
The city will hold its second shredding and recycling event in spring 2018. A date has not yet been determined, but will likely be scheduled on the Saturday before Earth Day 2018 which is Sunday, April 22.
In the meantime, start gathering those documents and unwanted electronics. This service is provided to Peachtree Corners residents only.

Do You Have Carpenter Skills?
The Peachtree Corners Veterans Monument Association (PCVMA) committee is looking for volunteers to build a temporary base for one of its sculptures.
The PCVMA will receive one of the six full size sculptures in November. The sculpture will be displayed at the new City Hall (310 Technology Parkway) later this year. City Hall will be its home until the statue is installed at its permanent home on the Town Green.

City Adds 33 New Businesses in August
Peachtree Corners City Hall processed new business tax certificates for a variety of businesses last month including a roofing contractor, interior design service, and two restaurants.
