Congratulations to Zone 8 members who participated in the USHJA Zones 7 & 8 Jumper Team Championships Aug. 9-16 at GO Show in Oklahoma City.
Betsy Checchia
, Tucson, Ariz., represented Zone 8 in the Adult Amateur competition.
Sarah Gonzales, Parker, Colo., and
Sydney Luzicka
, Albuquerque, N.M., represented Zone 10 in the combined 1.20/1.30m Junior and Amateur competition.

Teammates
Gonzales
and
Luzicka
earned the team silver medal for their combined Zone 7/8 team.
Luzicka also earned the gold medal in the combined 1.20/1.30m Junior and Amateur Individual Championships! As an individual medalist, she was named a
USHJA Gold Star Emerging Jumper Rider and
received a specialized gold star pin to wear at future competitions, and an invitation to attend a USHJA Gold Star Clinic in 2018.
"It's hard finding clinics with really good people and to have it be a guarantee that it will be a top professional or clinician it's just...wow," exclaimed Luzicka who was excited for the opportunity to continue to learn and advance through the levels. Congratulations to Zone 8 members who participated in the USHJA Children's and Adult Amateur Hunter West Regional Championships, presented by SmartPak, in Bend, Oregon, July 21-23!
Kristen Mauck of Salt Lake City and
Jenna Reid of Francis, Utah, participated in the Championships. Mauck placed 4th in the Individual Championship and Reid placed 5th.
