Principal Notes

Dear Parents,

This week we have two Back to School Nights; the grades K-4 one is Tuesday and the grades 5-8 one is Thursday.  Both begin at 7 pm in Holy Angel Hall. There is a short presentation in the hall and then you will go to your child's classroom to hear from their teacher(s).  Out of respect for everyone's time we will begin promptly at 7 pm.

Back to School nights are an opportunity for you to be informed about what your child will be learning, what the classroom expectations are, and how you can support your child in their learning.  There is no opportunity for individual conferences or questions on these nights.  If you want to speak to the teacher about your child please contact the teacher to set up an appointment.

We look forward to seeing you and to working together for a fabulous year for our students.  Thank you.

Have a wonderful week,
Jennifer

Tardiness

School begins at 8:00 a.m. A student who reports to class after the 8:00 a.m. bell has rung is tardy . Most tardiness is chronic, usually only a matter of two or three minutes, but most disruptive to the entire class once the class has begun. California Education code ยง 48260, subd. (a) states: A truant is "any pupil subject to compulsory full-time education . . . who is absent from school without valid excuse three full days in one school year or tardy or absent for more than any 30-minute period during the school day without a valid excuse on three occasions in one school year, or any combination thereof . . ." Parents must realize the importance of consistent attendance at school, especially in regard to punctuality each day. Students who are absent or tardy are held responsible for any work they have missed. It is the responsibility of the parent that all students are at school on time.
Parents will be charged $5.00 per tardy after the fifth unexcused occurrence. No warning will be given.

FROM THE ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT
Hello All,

My name is Jason Weatherall and I am the new Athletic Director and 5th-8th PE Teacher. As I had the chance to meet some of you all on Meet the Teacher Day, a good number of you expressed interest in helping with the PE and/or volunteering to coach. I want to take this opportunity to put out an interest email in order to garner an idea of the possible volunteers for either capacity.

I value any way in which you can help; yourself, a name of a friend or family member, anything that helps to enrich the St. Philip experience for our young Falcons will be greatly appreciated. I have been made aware of service hours for certain types of volunteering. Please take time to click the blue link and fill out the attached  FORM . I look forward to your response.

All the Best and Go Falcons!
Coach Weatherall
