PROGRAM SPOTLIGHT - SPEECH AND LANGUAGE!
Each week, we will be highlighting one of our programs or offering resources for parents to illustrate The Radcliffe Way!

Bolstering Language Skills while Having Fun!

At Radcliffe, we know that having fun while learning is one of the best ways to solidify novel information and create meaningful memories. Growing oral language, word retrieval, and vocabulary skills can all be accomplished through playing games together with friends and family. There are always new games on the market to explore, but there are also a number of oldies but goodies!

Fall is a great time to put the technology down and enjoy some time outside! Here are some games you can play that don't require boards or many props and can be done outside or on the road:
If it's a board game or card game you're after, try these:
  • Tri Bond for Kids
  • Bananagrams
  • Pairs in Pears
  • Anomia
  • Taboo
  • Scattergories
  • Last Word
  • Scrabble
  • You Gotta Be Kidding
  • Hedbanz
Reading to your child, or encouraging your child to listen to a book on tape, is always a fantastic way to build vocabulary, as well as increase knowledge of sentence structure. Have fun together!

HALLOWEEN INFORMATION

K-8 Halloween Information
On Monday October 31, RCS will be celebrating Halloween! Students are welcome to come to school in their Halloween costumes, as we will be having a Halloween Parade, Costume Contest, and parties that afternoon.  Please remember that students may not bring in costume props such as toy guns or weapons.  If your child does not want to come to school in costume, they should wear dress code. Halloween festivities will be from 1:30 - 3:00 p.m. If you have any questions, please email Julie Blyman.

The Green Troupe will also be hosting a HALLOWEEN BAKE SALE on Monday to support a Radcliffe green initiative. Any baked good donations would be appreciated, including some gluten and dairy-free goodies. No nuts, please. Baked goods can be sent in with your children on Monday.

CHESTERTOWN HALLOWEEN PARADE
It's that "haunting" time of year!!!! Radcliffe Creek School will participate in the Chestertown Halloween Parade again this year. Our theme for the float this year is " Mummies in the Mist,"  celebrating the spirit of Halloween. As a reminder, anyone who signed up to ride or walk along the RCS float  needs to meet at Dixon Valve parking lot at 9:00 a.m. SHARP! All children MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT at ALL times in order to participate in riding on the float! Children may wear their Halloween costumes. Little Creek Families are welcome to join us.

REMINDER - SEND IN YOUR BOX TOPS!
Box Tops are due by TOMORROW! Please send them in with your student! Each year, funds raised through the Box Tops Program provide our school with hundreds of dollars to purchase classroom supplies! The homeroom with the most Box Tops collected will receive a Dress Down Day!
BUFFALO BILL NEEDS YOUR HELP!
The Buffalo Bucks Store is looking bare and needs your help! Any donations of gently used or new toys, games, or crafts are welcome! Please feel free to send your items to school with your student or drop them off at the Front Desk. Thank you!

HARLEM AMBASSADORS

AROUND THE CREEK

This week, the Little Creek Two's Room made their very own bouncy ball for their sports theme! Students used warm water, borax, glue, and food coloring to create their ball.

Congratulations to the RCS soccer team on another great season!

Ms. Serio's Language Arts class and Ms. Aburn's Writing Class worked cooperatively this week to create spooky stories! The younger students practiced storytelling and sequencing, while the older students perfected their sentence structure and grammar! All of the students enjoyed sharing their stories with their classmates when they were finished.

This week, Little Creek's Four's Class started its "Under Construction" theme and got a tour of Mr. Scott's workshop where he showed the students different tools and how he uses them. Then today, Mr. Scott helped the students build popsicle houses!

Luke swings on his belly in the OT Room, picking up creepy crawlers for core strength, fine motor skills, and self regulation.
