Dear Parents,

The month of October's Gospel Value is Community. The word community is defined as  a feeling of fellowship shared with others. Our SCSS school community came together this past Sunday and shared true fellowship with each other at the Trunk and Treat. This year we had over 30 cars that participated. The sound of our school children laughing and walking with each other from car to car was a wonderful sight to see and warmed my heart. The amount of support from our school parents and families that were sharing in this fun and excitement was amazing. You could actually feel the sense of the community in the air and the positive feed back of how well the event went has lasted all week.

This event has taken place at St.Catherine's for the last 16 years and was introduced to us by a school parent who has been with the SCSS community for 17 years, Diane Morrisey. This year Mr. and Mrs. Palmieri have offered to continue the tradition of Trunk and Treat as Diane will be passing the baton when her son Luke graduates this year. We thank Diane for her years of dedication to St. Catherine of Siena School.

Quote from Pope Francis:

"May nothing keep you from growing in friendship with God."

We share friendship with God when we grow in our friendship with each other. Being together as a community in our faith and in our lives helps us become closer to God. As we continue to grow in our friendship within our SCSS family, may we also bring this closeness of friendship to our Lord through prayer and in the celebration of the Eucharist.

Faithfully Yours,

Miss Giaquinto
