We had a packed house for the launch of Bonnie Schroeder's novel, "Write My Name on the Sky," partly inspired by her experiences in Los Angeles during the 1960s & 70s.

It was December of 2015. When I wasn't working my day job, I was sending countless query letters to agents and publishers. That was, until I was involved in a car accident-one that could have taken my life. The smell of gas burned my senses as it snaked towards the Flintridge Bookstore & Coffeehouse from my overturned truck. Luckily, the fire department arrived before my misfortune could ignite a literary blaze. I walked away from the incident with minor injuries, though I felt changed somehow. It might have been the bump on my head or that I almost died in front of a store in which my book may never have rested. Whatever the case may be, I decided right then and there that I had to self-publish my book Feylin Lore: Reflections. Living like every day is your last, you harbor no regrets when that day finally comes. And today, my book is on display fifty feet from where it almost never existed.
