met with Representative Bishop. He recommends that AIA National meet with DC tax reform committee. He was very gracious to us in our meeting and said that he knew AIA. He was familiar with the tax credits and realized their value on some local projects. However, although he thinks it's an unrealistic goal, the tax reform committee is aiming for removing all tax credits.

DESCRIPTION - Multi-family housing is one of the more complex building types. Depending on when the facility was built and where the funds come from and who oversees the project, you can have a multitude of different regulations. In an overview and a scoping sense we will review the ADA Standards, the FHA, UFAS, and California Building Codes both 11A and 11B and compare the requirements for each. We will also touch upon alterations and transition plans and how this affects different types of multi-family housing projects.

The Masonry Institute of Michigan in cooperation with
AIA Michigan announces its 43rd Annual Masonry Honor Award Program for Excellence in Masonry Design. The Masonry Awards Program seeks to honor works of distinction by members of AIA Michigan and to bring to public attention outstanding buildings and projects designed by AIA Michigan architects.
To qualify for entry, buildings must use masonry as the primary exterior material and the architect must show masonry was important in the solution of the
design problem.
Projects will be judged on the basis of the appropriate and innovative use of unit masonry construction as well as excellence in design. Unit masonry includes brick, block, stone, and glass block masonry construction laid in in the traditional manner bedded in mortar by masons.
Intent to Enter deadline: October 6, 2017
Submissions due electronically: December 15, 2017
Judging: January 2018
Awards Reception: April 2018
