Did you know? You can
subscribe to the Heritage Calendar by going to our website and clicking on 'Calendar' under the 'Parents' tab. Click on the Subscribe button at the bottom and choose the option that you prefer, That will save you a lot of time entering in each event individually!

With the start of school just around the corner, we need your help to spiff-up the school building and surrounding campus. On Saturday, August 12, we'll have our annual Back to School Work Day from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. As always, more hands equal less work. This is an excellent way for you to meet other school families and would love to see you there. Be watching your email for additional information and a sign-up in the next week or two.

| We're looking forward to seeing you on Friday evening, August 18th for our annual Back to School Night. The itinerary for the evening is as follows:
- 6:30-7:00 pm - Teachers will be in their classrooms welcoming families and receiving school supplies
- 7:00-8:00 pm - Ice Cream Social in the gymnasium

| Heritage H.A.N.D.S. "First Day of School Coffee" |
| Heritage H.A.N.D.S. is excited to invite you to a "First Day of School Coffee" in the gymnasium right after drop off on Wednesday, the 23rd. This is an informal social time and a great opportunity to get to know other families, catch up after the summer, and build community. If you are new at Heritage this year, this is an excellent way to get involved and see what the Heritage family is all about! Parents can visit and younger children are welcome to play. We're looking forward to seeing you there! |
| We are in need of at least 5 more lunch servers in order for us to serve hot lunch this year. The time commitment is about 1.5 hours from 11-12:30pm. Currently we have 1 opening on Monday, 2 on Tuesday, and 2 on Thursday. If your schedule is such that you are not able to commit to the entire year, we have options! If you are only available for the fall months, the winter months, or the spring months, we can arrange a schedule accordingly. If we do not get enough lunch servers, we will not be able to serve lunch each day. This is a great opportunity to volunteer and get to know the students better! | Volunteer Screening Process |
If you anticipate volunteering with direct supervision over students this year (driving for field trips, serving lunch, coaching, etc.) you will need to complete a Volunteer Application. This application needs to be done each school year so even if you filled one out last year, you will need to do it again this year before being able to volunteer. You can visit our website and click on the Volunteer Application icon under Parent Hub on the home page or click here to access the application. You'll choose the volunteer option and then click on the form for the volunteer opportunity you would like to apply for. One item to note is that if you will be driving for a field trip, we need a copy of your drivers license as well as a copy of your declarations page showing your vehicle insurance limits (not just the insurance card as in previous years.) | Update Your Child's Immunization Records This Summer |
|
Many of you may be scheduling health exams and athletic physicals over the summer. Please assist the office by requesting an updated record of immunization for your child at their next exam. It is especially true for students entering kindergarten and 7th grade when additional required immunizations are given. The Department of Public Health and Human Services requires the school to have an up-to-date record of immunization on file before our annual audit in the fall. Immunization records can be faxed to 319-626-4778.

| Order and Pay for Lunches Online |
The lunch menus for August and September will be available soon. You'll receive a separate email with the menus and details for ordering. As a reminder, you have the ability to pay for those lunch orders online via e-check or debit/credit card. (You're not required to pay online, checks are still accepted in the office.) There will be a convenience fee for each transaction as follows:
- eChecks: $.85/payment
- Credit and debit card payments: 3.75% of transaction amount

| Fall athletic registration is here! Register by Friday, August 18th. |
We will be offering the following sports this fall: 5/6th Girls Volleyball led by Head Coach Sarah Franje, and 7/8th Soccer led by Head Coach Scott Montgomery. If you are interested in signing your 5-6th grade students up for volleyball or 5-8th grade students for soccer, please e-mail Serah Snell at [email protected] by Friday, August 18.
Due to low student interest in 7/8th Girls Volleyball, we will not have a 7/8th Girls Volleyball team this year. Additionally, I was unable to fill the role of 5/6th Head Soccer Coach and so we will have one soccer team comprised of 5-8th players. We do anticipate more than 18 soccer players will sign up and are planning to have a tryout at the first practice to establish the 18 player roster and all remaining players will be placed on a developmental team.
As a reminder the summer is an excellent time to renew your student's yearly sports physicals! All athletes 5-8th athletes must have a completed sports physical on file prior to being able to participate in any athletic events or practices. All athletic forms must be completed and turned in with the $40 athletic fee prior to the first day of practice.
Volunteer Concessions Coordinator Needed
: We are in need of a Concessions Coordinator for the upcoming volleyball season. The main responsibilities of Concessions Coordinator are to organize parent volunteers, purchase food items, and monitor the concessions stand on home games. If you would be interested in helping out the athletic program, please e-mail Serah Snell at [email protected] by Friday, August 11.
