Zone 7 Riders Excel in Two USHJA Championships
Congratulations to the Zone 7 members who participated in the USHJA Zones 7 & 8 Jumper Team Championships July 12-16 and the Children's and Adult Amateur Hunter Central Regional Championships, presented by SmartPak, July 12-16 at GO Show in Oklahoma City.

In the Children's Team Championship, the combined Zone 6/7 team with Zone 7 members Mae Pelz and Olivia Woods took home the gold medal, and the Zone 7 team of Samantha Brown, Valentina Diemer and Paige Parks, earned the bronze medal. 

Sarah Andrews, Dana Brawley, Kathy Chiaf and Stacey Thompson earned the gold medal in the Adult Amateur Team Championship. Special thanks to Zone 7 Chef d'Equipe Joey Brumbaugh for leading members at the Championships. Click here to read more about the Team Championships. 

Kathy Chiaf went on to earn the gold medal in the Adult Amateur Individual Championship, with Sarah Andrews taking home the silver and Denise Neef-Fiore earning the bronze medal.

Zone 7 members had great performances during the USHJA Zones 7 & 8 Jumper Team Championships July 9-16 at GO Show in Oklahoma City. 

In the combined Children's and Adult Amateur 1.10/1.15m Championship, Zone 7's
Sarah Boyd, Laura Rubinate and Marilee Wilson took home the gold medal.

Kelsey Gore, Madelyn Porter and Carolina Villaneuva were part of the gold medal team in the combined 1.20/1.30m Junior and Amateur Championship.  Tiffany Lee was part of the combined Zone 7/8 team that earned silver, and the Zone 7 Team of Genevieve Munson, Emily Straw and Rachel Zent earned team bronze.

Rachel Maurer earned the gold for the combined 1.10/1.15m Children's and Adult Amateur Individual Championship. Sarah Boyd took home silver and Megan Cleland earned the bronze. 

In the combined 1.20/1.30m Junior and Amateur Individual Championship, Emily Straw earned the silver medal and Carolina Villanueva earned the bronze. 

In addition to medals, the top three individuals in each section received the Gold Star Emerging Jumper Rider designation.

Congratulations to Zone 7 members who participated in the Adequan/FEI North American Children's, Junior and Young Rider Championships, presented by Gotham North, July 18-23 at HITS in Saugerties, New York. 

The Zone 7 Junior Team of  Anna Beth Athey, 17, Enid, Okla.,  Carson Grisham, 16, Southlake, Texas,  Mattie Hatcher, 16, Little Rock, Ark., and  Briley Koerner, 17, The Woodlands, Texas, took home the gold medal in the team competition!

Young Rider  Brian Moggre, 16, Flower Mound, Texas, was part of the gold medal Young Rider Team and  was awarded the Show Jumping Style Award, presented to the rider who showed "style" throughout the competition, not only mounted but also in the form of manners and overall demeanor.

Special thanks to Zone 7 Chef d'Equipe Martien van der Hoeven for leading the riders at the Championships. He was awarded the Caristo Cup, which is given to the Show Jumping Chef d'Equipe who best exemplifies Ralph Caristo's enthusiasm and professionalism.

Amanda Atkins, Brooke Betts and Megan Majewski were all awarded an EAP Grant thanks to the USHJA Zone 7 Committee and USHJA Foundation to attend the session in Texas. Samantha Meyer also received an EAP Grant, she attended an early summer session in Ohio.

Qualifying criteria:  The USHJA Zone 7 Equitation Championship is open to any rider that is an Active USHJA junior member, at the time of the competition, and has placed first or second place in a USEF Hunter Seat Medal class since the last day to qualify for the Zone Championship the previous year. Once a rider has won the USHJA Zone 7 Equitation Championship, he will not be allowed to compete again and will be invited to present awards for the following year.
