For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. ~Jeremiah 29.11
From my daughter's Instagram feed- the picture is from 1 year ago- of their dog Martin cuddled up next to a very pregnant Dani on the couch:
"so much changes in a year-tonight i'm snuggling with a baby (who's too quickly becoming not-a-baby!) on my belly and a puppy (who is still such a puppy- i guess some things stay the same ;)!) by our side. #evieione #ourdogmartin #tryingtofreezetime #idsettleforaslowdown "
On Sunday during our 10:30am worship service eight of our youth* will step forward in faith and be confirmed. Might their parents remember the day when they brought this child to the baptismal font promising to help them grow in the Christian faith and life? Where has the time gone?
Were you there, part of the gathered community, making promises to nurture and support this child and their family, helping them live into the baptismal promise? Where has the time gone?
On Sunday these words will be spoken as hands are laid upon their child's head and heart:
Stir up in your child
the gift of your Holy Spirit:
the spirit of wisdom and understanding,
the spirit of counsel and might,
the spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord,
the spirit of joy in your presence, both now and forever. Amen.
The GAME of LIFE? Where has the time gone? I remember bringing Danielle Patricia to the baptismal font and now there is Evie Ione and Dani is a Mother and I am a Grandmother. (#idsettleforaslowdowntoo) My friends, each day is a gift to be treasured. How is your game going? On Sunday we consider what it takes to win the GAME of LIFE.
See you at church! ~Pastor Linda
*Please hold these Confirmands and their families

Contentment Prayer: Lord, help me to be grateful for what I have, to remember that I don't need most of what I want, and that joy is found in simplicity and generosity.

All Saints' Memory Table
|
|
We are preparing a Saints' Table in the Great Hall for ALL SAINTS' Sunday, Nov 6,
to remember all those in our lives who have died in the faith- people who have helped shape our own lives of faith. Who is that for you? Might you have a piece of memorabilia (a picture, a poem, something else)- that you might be willing to share- to bring to the table- as together we remember? We will begin
collecting these items
Bring your ALL SAINTS memorabilia as we prepare our worship space for ALL SAINTS' Sunday on November 6. Questions? Contact Pastor Linda or Pastor Jen.

My name is Kelsey Hane.
I grew up in Buffalo, Minnesota and graduated from Winona State University. I am so excited to be a part of this incredible church family and feel so blessed to be given an opportunity to serve such a wonderful place. Please don't hesitate to stop in and introduce yourself!
Kelsey is pictured above with her fiance Ryan. She will be in training with Jackie Verdick until the end of the year when Jackie will be retiring.
Join us in welcoming Kelsey as she starts her new position on Monday, Oct 24. Please introduce yourself to her
(this is when wearing a name tag on Sunday mornings really helps!).

Healing the Heart of Democracy-
The Courage to Create a Politics Worthy of the Human Spirit
by Parker Palmer
The author looks with realism and hope at how to deal with our political tensions for the sake of the common good.
Palmer writes:
For those of use who want to see democracy survive and thrive - and we are legion-the heart is where everything begins: that grounded place in each of us where we can overcome fear, rediscover that we are members of one another, and embrace the conflicts that threaten democracy as openings to new life for us and for our nation.
Read the book, then come for the discussions at 7pm on Tuesdays:
Even if you missed the previous discussions, please join us for the final discussion below.
