About the Author:
Ford has a degree in Design from the Art Institute of Seattle and also attended Seattle's School of Visual Concepts. He has worked in advertising, first as an art director and later as a copywriter. Early in his writing career, Ford submitted short stories to writing contests and small literary venues and spent many of his vacations at writing conferences.
Wanting to reconnect to his Chinese heritage, Ford began writing about Asian-American characters after his father died. Jamie Ford's great-grandfather, Min Chung, emigrated from Kaiping, China, to San Francisco in 1865. Taking the European name William Ford, Min Chung became a miner in Nevada.
Ford grew up in Oregon and Washington, a setting he revisits in his works. Ford's first novel, Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet, a love story set amidst Japanese American internment during World War II, spent two years on the New York Times' bestseller list.
