Thank You's
Please see the "Angels of St. Stephen's" article for our Thank You's this week.

This Sunday, June 25, 2017, The Rev. John Buenz will preside over the 8:00 am and 10:00 am services. Deacon Robin Poppoff is back from vacation and will provide the sermon at both services. Suzanne Zhu will be back from vacation and will provide the music for the 10:00 am service. We are very fortunate to have all three of these wonderful people.

Please keep the vestry and the Rector Search Committee in your prayers. The vestry is working hard to keep St. Stephen's operating smoothly and the Rector Search Committee is working hard to create our church profile.   Please pray that God will guide us all and that we will have open hearts and minds as we make decisions for the church during this transition.

Reminders: Please bring in dry food for the food basket for St. Julie's and pocket change for the Food for the Poor jar. Please look at the Angel's Board to see if there are any tasks that need to be added or tasks that you want to volunteer to do. Also, remember Andy Lief is putting together a list of tasks that need to be done for the Beautification of St. Stephen's Project. Please let him know if you have tasks to add.

Stay cool through these hot days of summer. Drink plenty of fluids. Remember, St. Stephen's has air conditioning!

UPDATE FROM THE SEARCH COMMITTEE
by Janet Thorsrud

Good news St Stephen's family!! Your Search Committee met with our Diocesan Search Liaison Joanna Shreve on Saturday to continue working on our profile.  Joanna is a wonderful, God driven facilitator and she helped us crystalize what we are looking for in a new rector based on the input that we received from the Appreciative Inquiry Summit.

At our next meeting on July 8th we will work on where we want to be in 5 years again with Joanna's help.

Keep us in your prayers. God is our guide.

PRAY FOR THE RECTOR SEARCH COMMITTEE

Dear Lord, Heavenly Father, we, the people of St. Stephen's ask for your blessings on the members of the Search Committee.  Bless them in their meetings, in their deliberations and in their discernment.  Keep their hearts and minds open to the Holy Spirit and to wherever You will lead them in this process.

Guide them in their deliberations while they prepare the St. Stephen's Profile which will be posted to the National Office of Transitional Ministry (OTM).  Please allow this process to be completed with ease and joy.

We trust you and we know that you will bring us the best possible Rector for St. Stephen's as you have done for us before.  Thank you, Heavenly Father for all your blessings on the Search Committee and this congregation. AMEN

Please pray daily for our Search Committee......

ANGELS OF ST. STEPHEN'S

Thank you to the following "Angels of St. Steph en's" who took care of an Angel List item this week:

Mystery Angel who trimmed the Lantana plants on the north side of the church along the walkway.  It looks SO nice !!  We would love to know who you are, so we could thank you in person!

  • Remove the remaining grass from the soil around the rose bushes (see Andy Lief or Caroline Conway)
  • Clean the cob webs out of the Bell Tower.
  • If you see a need, please call the church office at 408-629-1836 so we can add it to the list.

LET'S KEEP ST. STEPHEN'S SHINING

SUPPORT ST. STEPHEN'S
by buying everyday products from
MELALEUCA

Helping you Lead a Healthier Life !

St. Stephen's has partnered with Melaleuca, a USA manufacturing company that offers a charitable fundraising program that allows non-profit, 501C3 programs like ours, an easy way to incur extra income without much extra effort or extra money or time from you!

Two Melaleuca representatives will be at St. Stephen's on Sunday, June 25, after the 10am worship service to display their products and explain how the program works.

This shopping club is loosely structured like eScrip. Every time a family shops, St. Stephen's will receive 5% of the total purchase.

Melaleuca is an online store that has a wide assortment of common household consumables.  They are high quality, concentrated, eco-friendly products that contain no toxic ingredients or harsh chemicals. They are higher quality than name brands, less expensive than Target, Costco, Walmart. Healthier for your families, your children/athletes and yourself and your pets while at the same time being environmentally conscientious.

Through this unique non-profit partnership, the more families who volunteer to shop every month for a portion of your everyday household products, the more money will be donated to St. Stephen's.  It's a Win-Win fundraiser for both you and St. Stephen's.

Contact Susie Good, phone 408-375-0680
Tom and I have used these products for over 25 years and we love them!

OUTREACH OPPORTUNITIES
by The Rev. Robin Poppoff, Deacon

Relay for Life
If it's spring/summer, it must be "Relay for Life" time.
Many people have been touched by cancer in some way. Are you a cancer survivor? Are you a cancer care giver? Do you have a cancer survivor in your life, or have you lost someone to cancer? Then you may wish to join the American Cancer Society's fundraiser, "Relay for Life". Please consider walking for an hour or more and raising money yourself, or donating to someone who is walking.

"Relay For Life" is the signature fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. Relay is staffed and coordinated by volunteers in more than 5,200 communities and 27 countries. Volunteers give of their time and effort because they believe it's time to take action against cancer. "Relay for Life" began in May 1985, by Dr. Gordon "Gordy" Klatt who walked and ran for 24 hours around a track in Tacoma, Washington, raising money to help the American Cancer Society with the nation's biggest health concern: cancer.

Want to walk with another Episcopal Church?  Talk to Deacon Robin --  St. Jude's Apostles Episcopal Church is organizing a group to walk July 15-16 in Cupertino.

GIFT CARD PROGRAM...   by Janet Thorsrud
Hey my friends.
This Sunday is the day to place your order for gift cards. I called Great Lakes this morning to check on when the new Safeway cards would be ready. They don't know and don't have any Safeway cards available.

The next order will be Aug 6th. Anything you want to order for gift baskets being used for the golf tournament you can order now or in August.

There are 3 gift cards left in the office. They are:
2   $25 Amazon cards
1   $25 Olive Garden/ Red Lobster

This option of having cards in the office seems to no longer be of use and will be discontinued. The office staff will love not having to keep track of this.

Don't forget you can buy plane tickets and pay for hotels while you're on vacation this summer.

Stay cool!
