From the Minister:
Guest Preacher -
Taj Smith
|
We are welcoming Taj Smith to our pulpit this Sunday. He will be reflecting on the (sometimes unlikely) places from which we receive vital messages, and on how we react when we get a such a message. He will be drawing on the wisdom of Matthew 16:21-28, Exodus 3:1-15, and Psalm 105.
Mr.
Smith graduated from Harvard Divinity School with a Masters of Divinity in 2016. He is a member of the United Church of Christ where he is invested in conversations that will expand hospitality to transgender and gender non-conforming people. Prior to attending Harvard he had another life as a singer/songwriter and a professional street performer. He sees no limit to the imagination and seeks out creative ways to advocate for justice, usually through artistic expression. He is an avid sci-fi lover and a longtime musician. He also really likes hats.

We were visited in Boston by members of our Kolozsvar, Romania partner church this week! Assistant Minister Amelia along with Carol Kemp and Peter Sexton showed our guests Eszter and Sari Roman around King's Chapel and Parish House, and Peter wowed us all with his extensive knowledge of Boston's history.

Meet the Educators - Andrea Woodberry
A native Minnesotan, Andrea moved to Boston in 2016 to pursue a Master's in Museum Education from Tufts University. Earlier that year, she earned a history degree with museum studies and French minors from Luther College in Iowa, where she realized museum education is the place for her. It provides a platform for building connections between a museum's stories and its visitors. She is excited to serve King's Chapel and its visitors by building these connections between the chapel, its history, and its visitors. When not studying or roaming around museums, Andrea can be found reading, baking, and exploring new hiking trails and coffee shops.

In order to provide a more welcoming atmosphere for our Church School families, King's Chapel will be adhering to Safe Church guidelines for all Church School events this year. In order to do this, adult volunteers are needed to be present while the members of our Church School staff teach the curriculum.
We will need at least two volunteers from 10 am - 11 am for the following Sundays. Volunteers are welcome to leave early from the Morning Prayer Service.

Our 2017 Stewardship Appeal
|
Our Stewardship Drive continues to receive contributions, but we are concerned about Pledges to Date. Our pledges and income are barely at the halfway mark, and we will need a total of $225,000 in order to meet our goal. We are short $100,000 in pledges. Please pledge or send in your contribution now so that we can be sure we will meet our budget for this fiscal year. Thank you.

Accessibility Assists
Our beautiful Georgian sanctuary designed by Peter Harrison and completed in 1754, has been lovingly maintained by the congregation since its completion. One of the box pews has been made wheel-chair accessible. Ushers are available to assist those who are wheelchair-bound to that pew.
A sound system has been installed in the sanctuary of The Chapel to amplify the sound during worship services. Hearing assistance devices are available for your use. Please see an Usher for assistance.
