Outdoor Living Picture

May is magical.  It seems like overnight our world turns greener, the air is scented with flowers and the sky becomes a bright blue.  Nature is in full bloom and after months of indoor living, we long to be outside.  This month's newsletter celebrates the passion to extend our living space beyond the four walls of our homes.  Let's literally "think outside the box" and include the porch, patio, gazebo or deck as defined places to gather and entertain.  This month's newsletter highlights the innovations and design industry trends that make outdoor living so enticing.  I invite you to read on and be inspired to create a peace on heaven in your own backyard!

Warm Regards,

Kim

This time of year we all think about being outside as much as possible.  One way to achieve that goal is to extend our living environment beyond the confines of our four walls.  Here in the mid-Atlantic region, we are lucky.  Functional and comfortable outdoor living is possible for approximately six months of the year.  This is most worthy of our design attention.

My Favorite Thing

It's so difficult to pick our one favorite thing that Kim has done for us, but if we had to pick, it would be our reading corner!  Kim created a great space in our family room that acts as a sanctuary from the rest of the family room.  She picked out this gorgeous leather chair for us and recommended we paint our fireplace white.  And then as with all the accenting that Kim does, we love all of the extras in that area.  All things we would have never picked out on our own, but love how they complement each other ...the glass side table, the animal print pillow, the mantel decor, and the drapery.  Everything works so well together and beautifully enhances our favorite picture of Eastern Market which also found a new home in the redesign.  Thanks to Kim and the Salmon Casson team for a beautiful space.

I was on a mission during the April Furniture Market 2014.

Our design library was in need of a new case good line.  Case goods include bedroom, dining, office and occasional furniture.  Most rooms require several case good pieces  so they are key to a well designed space.  It is important to me that we offer our clients interesting, functional and affordable options.

I was on the hunt for such an option.  After being disappointed by several showrooms, we decided to visit the Lexington Home Furniture showroom in Thomasville.  It was a short drive from High Point, but well worth the trip.   [read more...]
