Eve Ensler to Give 2016 Angelides Lecture
It was twenty years ago that Eve Ensler first performed her play The Vagina Monologues in the basement of the Cornelia Street CafĂ© in Greenwich Village.  The performance was unusual to say the least.  No artist had ever interviewed women about their vaginas and turned their stories into an out loud performance.  But from those interviews and that humble debut, The Vagina Monologues and Eve's riveting performances have become cultural legends, inspiring a powerful anti -violence movement.

The play has been translated into 48 languages and performed in over 120 countries. Celebrities who have starred in it include: Jane Fonda, Whoopi Goldberg, Susan Sarandon, Cyndi Lauper, Sandra Oh and Oprah Winfrey. Ensler was awarded the Obie Award in 1996 for 'Best New Play' and in 1999 was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship Award in Playwriting.

Eve's later work including The Good Body (2004) and I Am an Emotional Creature:  The Secret Life of Girls Around the World (2011) continue her tradition of confronting fierce and painful truths to empower women and girls.

Join us for a Conversation with Eve Ensler, Thursday, March 31 at 4:00 PM in the Multi-Purpose Room of the College Avenue Student Center.
 Speaking of Untold Stories...
Pauline Pearlmutter Steinem
Gloria Steinem is one of three pioneers featured on "Finding Your Roots" which aired on PBS last month.  Host Henry Louis Gates, Jr. uncovered family history of Neil Patrick Harris, Sandra Cisneros and Gloria revealing family stories they were never told.  Imagine Gloria's reaction when she learned on the show that her grandmother was a bold feminist in her day, leading efforts for suffrage.  Fascinating!  You don't have to imagine, watch it here

We are so proud that Pauline Pearlmutter Steinem's granddaughter Gloria chose Rutgers to be the home of the first ever endowed chair in media, culture and feminist studies. And of course it will be named for Gloria.

Help us make it happen with a gift.  Every gift makes a difference from $5.00 to $5,000.  You can help us make our goal! Support the Gloria Steinem Endowed Chair today.
