A local coal company plans to build a clean carbon fuel plant at the site of its underground mine in Greene and Washington counties.

CNX Coal Resources LP (NYSE: CNXC) announced Wednesday that it had reached a partnership with Omnis to construct what it called a first-of-its-kind solid energy refinery that will take waste coal at the Bailey Mine Complex and turn it into clean carbon fuel. A local developer has been awarded $15 million in new markets tax credits to help finance a major overhaul of a historic cargo warehouse on the South Side.
Downtown-based McKnight Realty Partners is using the money to help convert vacant floors at the River Walk Corporate Centre into creative office space and to turn an asphalt street that runs through the complex to the Monongahela River into a public green space as part of a project it has dubbed  the "Highline." . .. Parts of the Northern Lights Shopping Center on Route 65 in Economy are about to be demolished.

The Beaver County Times reported that portions of the 475,000-square-foot center, first built in 1956, are going to be torn down in the near future. The shopping center is a shadow of its former self, the newspaper said, and demolition permits have already been granted. P.Z. A plan to convert the former Monsour Medical Center property in Jeannette into a new retail and commercial development cleared its last hurdle on Thursday with approval by Westmoreland County commissioners. 
"We know we will be able to recoup our investment. It's better than a deteriorating hospital," said Commissioner Ted Kopas. 
The commissioners, acting as the board of directors for the Westmoreland County Industrial Development Corp., signed off on the plan to have Colony Holding Co. of North Huntingdon convert the now cleared 6.4-acre property on Route 30 for a new use. . . Read More.
