It's Too Much...Forget it!
2017 Theme: Better Together

Have you ever considered what it would look like if we all pushed past our comfort zones? Would our world be stronger and more unified if everyone who saw someone in need, reached out to that person? What if we were no longer concerned with being misunderstood, embarrassed, or persecuted for doing what we know in our hearts to be right. We have come to a point where we need to stop making excuses for not standing up or speaking out when we are called to do so. We need to stop talking ourselves out of doing the right thing and just do it because it's the right thing.

Rays of Light Philanthropic is doing our best to look at things from a different perspective. We challenge ourselves to empathize with the children and young adults we serve. We want to put our hearts and minds in the place where we are emulating the heart of Christ. We want to break this cycle of moral decline and disregard for the power of unification. We can stand together, stop making excuses for turning a blind eye, and endeavor to start rebuilding our broken system. We start by listening to that still small voice inside that says hug her, pray for him, or help them. We begin by reaching out and affecting the lives of the people placed in our path and it expands to the ones in their lives and eventually spreads out beyond our personal reach. Many can be affected by your decision to help one. Rays of Light Philanthropic is hosting our 10th Annual CHRISTmas "Be a Blessing" Gala Saturday, December 9th, 2017. Come out and be a blessing with us. Tickets go on sale October 1st, 2017. Please purchase them early, because last year we sold out. Also, during our event you'll be able to purchase raffle tickets. Our grand prize this year is a pair of tickets to Broadway's hit musical Hamilton at the Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles.

We all talk about the change that needs to happen, but there are only a few who are willing to step outside of their normal routine to change the way they do things. We were not created to sit idly by and allow our world to decay. We were created to love, to serve, and to emulate the heart of God. We must stop allowing our fears and emotions to lead us. We have to look at the bigger picture, the long-term state of our world and not just our present happiness or our present comfort. What if you try something different, function from a different perspective, choose to act in love? If you can see the decline of this world, if your heart can acknowledge that something needs to change, then do something to change it! We can't continue to say it's too much for one person to do, just do your part. We can't continue to say forget it, because for some their pain has evolved to a constant ache. If we can't do something different we won't see anything different.

We challenge you to do one thing each day that pushes you past your level of comfort. We challenge you to reach out to one person today who may need your help. We challenge you to be a part of the change that needs to happen in our world. It may seem like too much, it may be easier to keep your eyes wide shut, but what will you say when the tables are turned and you are the one in need? We are all in need and we can all help someone in need. Together we can raise the bar for the ones coming behind us. Together we can shine a light on this dark world. We can make a difference! As we step out one by one and join hands with each other, we can prove that we are better together.
