Born in Mississippi in 1911 as Thomas Lanier Williams, he adopted the name Tennessee after his father's birthplace. Moving to New Orleans in 1939, Williams produced an amazing amount of work during his lifetime. He is best known for his plays and film adaptations, but he also wrote poems, short stories and novels. 

His first major success came in 1945 in Chicago with the opening of The Glass Menagerie....

Synopsis : Tennessee Williams' classic play concerns Tom, "a poet with a job in a warehouse," his fragile, shy sister Laura, and their indomitable mother Amanda, who works heroically to keep her family together and dreams of a "gentleman caller" who will one day arrive to sweep her daughter off her feet.


RUNNING TIME: Two hours and fifteen minutes; which includes a fifteen-minute intermission.
