Town Gown Collaborations: Technology Connecting Generations
The Tompkins Today and Tomorrow Fund makes a grant to Ithaca College to support technology training for older adults in our community so that they can stay connected to family members through skype, social media and e-mail, improving their quality of life.  Students equipped with special training served older adults affiliated with Lifelong Senior Center, McGraw House, Longview, Kendal at Ithaca, Titus Towers, and Juniper Manor.

Strong Collaborations: Worker and Employer Mutual Benefits

Finger Lakes ReUse, Ithaca Rescue Mission and Challenge Workforce Solutions collaborate to provide mutually reinforcing programming which serves individuals coming out of jail and/or prison.  Services are targeted at providing job training, skill development, confidence building and advocacy to eliminate the barriers  frequently faced by these individuals.  Increased resources during this time is aimed at decreasing recidivism and improving quality of life.

Collaborations Deliver Results: Collective Impact in Tompkins County

The grantees from our fall 2015 grant cycle, Collective Impact: Building Relationships, Building Our Future, will be presenting their interim reports on October 24th, 3-4:30 pm at the Child Development Council.  Please come and learn about the progress being made in the following areas: Cradle to Career, Developing an Effective and Comprehensive Job Training Model, Re-Shaping the Local Food System, Youth Employment Training Program, and Bringing Collective Impact Home
Libraries Join Forces

Collaborations Across Places: Libraries Join Forces to Bring Author to Four Rural Communities

Four Libraries received a collaborative grant in our Library Grant Cycle supporting author, Sean Fay Wolfe, to engage with young readers in their communities.  Sara Knobel, Library Director of  Groton Public Library  led this initiative with  Southworth Library  in Dryden,  Cortland Library,  and  Powers Library  (Moravia).  This grant cycle was inspired by our  Bernard Carl and Shirley Rosen Library Fund  which promotes genuine intellectual curiosity and a lifelong love of reading and learning.
