RITA MAJOR

Rita Major, the remaining singing member of Pacific Chorale who began in 1968 and sang at almost all of its concerts during her 50 years with the chorus, has died.   Rita was a beloved OC arts veteran who  was also the longtime Education Director at the Philharmonic Society of Orange County and had previously served as Box Office Manager of Pacific Symphony and Business Manager of Pacific Chorale.  A m emorial for Rita Major will take place on Sunday, October 1, 3 p.m. at St. Mark's Presbyterian Church, 2200 San Joaquin Hills Rd., Newport Beach.

GREG ESCALANTE

Greg Escalante, a bond trader who went on to become a key patron of the Lowbrow art movement as a collector, gallerist and co-founder of the magazine Juxtapoz, has died. He was 62.  Greg served on the Boards of the Laguna Art Museum, Grand Central Art Center and Huntington Beach Art Center.  Read more about Greg here.
