Check Out the New Mobile-Friendly DPS Website!
The new, mobile-friendly DPS website is now live! This new site will replace the old DPS site during the first week in November and will be a one-stop shop for our families, community members and prospective employees to find information about DPS programs, services and resources.

Explore the new site at newdps.dpsk12.org, and share your feedback with  communications@dpsk12.org . Our goal is to shift employee information from the old site to our new intranet, The Commons, while focusing helpful public resources on our new external website.

We encourage you to visit the new site and let us know if you believe your  program or department information is missing. If so, please email  felicia_michael@dpsk12.org . We appreciate your help in making our new site an amazing place to visit.
Top 5: Our Excellent Educators on "Reasons I Teach"
On Tuesday, DPS honored distinguished teachers and specialized service providers at the annual Excellence in Teaching event. We asked our educators to tell us why they're so committed to our kids. Here are the top five reasons our educators teach:
  1. "I teach because I believe our students will change the world." Michelle Anthony, Holm Elementary (Winner of a $30 Racine's gift card!)
  2. "I teach because I believe equity means that all students, including those with chronic health conditions and physical health disabilities, should have the opportunity to access the public education system." - Brooke Goudy, nurse
  3. "I teach because I want to close the gaps with our students of color." - Jennifer Perea, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Early College
  4. "I teach because a teacher of mine once inspired me to do more. I want to help light that fire in my students." - Richard Cole, South High
  5. "I teach because I want to inspire kids to discover that learning can be FUN, and I want them to know someone believes in them." - Scott Dutton, College View Elementary

We'll run the top 5 photos we receive and send a prize to the person who submits the best photo!
Reminder: Verify Your Personal Information Nov. 1
As noted last week, you will receive an email on Nov. 1 from the Human Resources Department (connect_humanresources@dpsk12.org) asking you to verify the personal and demographic information we have on file for you. It is critical for you to review and, if needed, update this information in the Global Human Resources (GHR) system. The email you receive will provide a link to detailed instructions. Please be assured that this email is not spam. You can see a sample of the email by clicking here.
Benefits Terms Decoded: E-Visits for Kaiser Members
Team DPS, are you ready to play Benefits Terms Jeopardy? Here's how you play to win:
  • Benefits Terms Decoded: We'll "decode" one new benefits term in Team DPS Weekly each week through Oct. 27(that's four new terms), and tell you more about how you can save time and money utilizing services provided by Kaiser and DHMP.
  • Starting next week, we'll test your knowledge of those terms. We'll ask a question. If you email us the correct answer, you'll be entered to win a prize. Winners are selected at random.
Now, for our fourth and final "decoded" term: E-Visits. If you have a non-urgent medical condition at any time (24 hours a day, seven days a week) and you're not sure what kind of care you need, an e-visit may be a good option for you. An e-visit is an online medical consultation with a Kaiser Permanente Advice Call Center Registered Nurse who's available at no cost for select medical conditions like nausea/vomiting, pink eye, female UTI, sinus, constipation, diarrhea and more.

Living Our DPS Honoree:
Samantha Sims
Digital Literacy Teacher, Stedman
Fun

Stedman's Samantha Sims lives our Shared Core Value of Fun.
Stedman's Digital Literacy Teacher Samantha Sims is "all in as a learner, leader and teammate," and when it comes to our Shared Core Value of Fun, she's in a class of her own!

Nominate  one of your colleagues to be featured as a Living Our DPS honoree, and read more about Samantha's serious commitment to Spirit Week and fun!

"Samantha Sims has taken the Fun of Spirit Week at Stedman to a new level through her creative costumes and willingness to support less adventurous colleagues in showing school spirit. While engaging as a digital literacy teacher and supporting her colleagues through coaching and data team facilitation this week, Sam also brought the supplies to dress our dean of instruction up as her twin on twin day. She creatively styled our dean's hair, adding the same red flowers that Sam had in her own hair. On crazy hair day, Sam took the Fun to new heights and joyfully posed with Tom and our leadership team during his visit to our school. Sam could be recognized for her engagement in each of the Shared Core Values, as she is truly 'all in' as a learner, leader and teammate. It is with a smile on my face that I honor her for demonstrating the Shared Core Value of FUN!"
