As part of our commitment to quality education and communication, we will send weekly updates to let parents know what is happening at Athlos this coming week.
Our goal is to send "This Week at a Glance" every Tuesday afternoon with the exception of the first Tuesday of the month.

FROM NURSE MARY:

  • Halloween seems to be the time of year that lice decides to travel. Masks, hats, wigs... they are all potential carriers! Lice can be a very real problem and we want to make sure we are all being vigilant in keeping our students lice-free. Have students with long hair wear their hair up or in braids. If your child does have lice, and traditional measures aren't working, you can try  www.licecaresolutions.com to help you get your child lice-free and back in school!

  • The Texas Department of Health reminds us that students must be fever free for 24 hrs without the use of fever suppressing medication before they may return to school. The same rules apply for diarrhea and vomiting. Rashes should be identified with a note from the physician that states this person is not contagious and may return to school.

  • If your child has an injury that requires a brace, crutch or other assistive devices please bring a note from your physician.  AC needs a note from a parent or physician if a student is not to participate.

REMINDERS:

  • Thank you to everyone who is arriving to class on time.  As a reminder, the school day begins at 8:05 a.m.  This means that teachers begin instruction as 8:05 a.mand students who arrive to class after this time will be marked as tardy. Please make every attempt to arrive on time or early so instructional time is not disrupted.

  • If you need to pick up your child early from school, please make  arrangements to pick up at the front office BEFORE 2:45 p.m.

FROM OUR CHARACTER COACHES:

We are celebrating Red Ribbon Week
October 24th - 28th !
The Red Ribbon symbolizes the commitment to a healthy, drug free lifestyle.  This celebration is building the bridge from awareness to action.  We can all be bridge builders!

One of the ways we are encouraging our students
to choose to live a drug free life
is through dress up days!
Check out these fun themes to remind kids to be drug free:

Monday :
Crazy Sock Day
Put A Sock On Drugs!

Tuesday :
Neon Day
We're Too Bright To Do Drugs!

Wednesday :
Crazy Hat or Hair Day
Put A Cap On Drugs!

Thursday :
Team Jersey
Team UP Against Drugs

Friday :

Be RE(a)Dy to Say No To Drugs!

Let this week be a spring board for meaningful conversations at home about the importance of staying drug, tobacco and alcohol free!
