B-17 'Flying Fortress' on Display at Allegheny County Airport in West Mifflin Aug. 5-6

The Liberty Foundation's 2017 Salute to Veterans tour will be arriving in Pittsburgh at Allegheny County Airport (Airport Terminal Building, 12 Allegheny County Airport, West Mifflin) on Monday, July 31.

On display will be the famous Boeing B-17 "Madras Maiden" celebrating 72 years since the end of WWII. The aircraft will be open to the public and available for flights and ground tours on Saturday & Sunday August 5-6 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Registration for Airport 5K Races
(PIT and AGC) Now Open
 
Again this year, we are excited to welcome runners and walkers to Pittsburgh International and Allegheny County Airport for 5K races on both airfields.

In partnership with P3R, the PIT 5K will be conducted September 30 at 10 a.m.

The AGC 5K will be conducted November 18 at 10 a.m. in West Mifflin.

Airport Authority Seeking Artist-In-Residence to Develop Artwork for Pittsburgh International Airport
 
In partnership with the Office of Public Art, the Allegheny County Airport Authority is hosting a year-long artist residency at Pittsburgh International Airport to develop artwork for display in the terminal.
 
Interested artists are invited to submit qualifications through an open call at http://pittsburghartscouncil.org/artist-in-residence-pittsburgh-international-airport  through August 28. 
 

Airport Roadway Exit to Pittsburgh Restricted; Please Slow Down When Exiting Airport

Reconstruction work on the airport exit roadway to eastbound I-376 (toward Pittsburgh) is currently being conducted.

The ramp that carries traffic from the airport to eastbound I-376 will be restricted to a single 10-foot lane through late September.
The ramp will remain open to traffic during construction.


  
Pittsburgh International Named a 'Best of the 'Burgh' Winner by Readers of Pittsburgh Magazine
 
Pittsburgh International serves 68 nonstop destinations, up from the 37 available in 2014. The airport has also landed eight new airlines for a total of 16 - including all three U.S. ultra-low cost carriers and two new European carriers.

Leaders have also made efforts to elevate the traveling experience with new art and cultural exhibits and regular live music performances. It's no wonder business is on the rise. This June was the airport's busiest in a decade with 832,781 total passengers.

OneJet Announces Flights to Nashville and Providence; Now Serves Nine Cities
 
OneJet has announced two new routes from Pittsburgh International: Twice daily nonstop service to Nashville beginning July 12, and service to Providence beginning August 23 (subject to Department of Transportation approval).

OneJet currently provides nonstop service to numerous cities from Pittsburgh International Airport including Albany, Cincinnati, Hartford, Indianapolis, Louisville, Milwaukee, and Richmond.

Spirit Airlines Expanding: Nonstops to Tampa and Ft. Myers Begin Nov. 9 
 
At Spirit Airlines, there's no such thing as too much Sunshine State! Now, South Florida's Hometown Airline is delivering more sunshine and more service to its two newest cities.

Beginning Nov. 9, Spirit will begin service to Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) in Fort Myers and Tampa International Airport (TPA) from Pittsburgh International Airport. The daily seasonal flights will bring new ultra-low fare options for customers to escape the cold and plan the ultimate tropical beach escape.

Common Use Lounge, Duty Free Shop Now Open at Pittsburgh International
 
Pittsburgh International Airport has opened a new common use lounge and Duty Free/Duty Paid shopping area in newly renovated Concourse C.

The Club Lounge, operated by Airport Lounge Development of Dallas, Texas, will be open to all travelers regardless of which airline they are flying or if they are traveling for business or leisure.

Travelers may purchase day passes online or at the lounge for $40. No membership is required. The Club will be open from 4 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Mondays, and 4 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.
