Dear Jones Family,

Welcome to another great year at Jones College Prep!

As Jones approaches its 80th year as a high school, we have much to celebrate and much to look forward to. Although we have had an illustrious career in other iterations, including the famous Jones Commercial, it is as JCP that we have really come into our own.  Jones consistently ranks in the top three high schools in the state of Illinois and continues to be recognized locally and nationally as among the best public high schools in the country. This is all thanks to the vision, dedication, and strength of our school family, our teachers, parents, and, of course, our terrific students.

We welcome 1900 students this year, largest enrollment in our school's history, as well as a highly talented faculty of 113. We have 10 new teachers joining us this year, and are very excited by the richness of their experience and commitment to our kids.  We also look forward to working with our Friends of Jones and Local School Council as we continue building on our school's record of success.
  • LSC Parent Vacancy Available: The Jones LSC has a position available for a parent representative.  If you are interested, please contact me and plan to attend the September 11 LSC meeting, which will be in the Library Media Center at 5:30 pm.
  • Back-to-School Night (September 14): Please mark your calendars for our Back-to-School Night on Thursday, September 14. This is a great opportunity for you to meet your students' teachers and follow the kids' schedules. Please visit our website,  jonescollegeprep.orgfor further details.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at any time at [email protected] or on my direct office line, 773-534-8606. You can also follow me on Twitter @PJOSEPHPOWERS.

Sincerely,

Every parent already has a separate account created. Please DO NOT "Create a New Account"; also DO NOT "Create a Joint Account."

FIRST TIME CONNECTION?
Simply go to www.FOJAccess.org and use your e-mail address as your login name, then click on "Forgot Password?" Enter your e-mail address again to be sent a link to create your own login name and password.
E-mail address not found? As hard as we try, sometimes e-mails get lost in the shuffle. Contact us here and we'll be sure your e-mail address is in our database so you can set up your account.

A FEW OTHER DETAILS:
· Please note that EACH PARENT has a separate account and is responsible for setting up individual login information.
· FOJ Access is NOT a CPS database and is separate from the CPS Parent Portal. It will show as z2systems.com in your web address.
· This database is a brand new project run primarily by parent volunteers. Please bear with us while we work out the kinks and get things running as smoothly as possible.

If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please contact Doreen Lubeck.

  Annual Fund

WELCOME BACK TO SCHOOL AND TO THE KICK-OFF OF THE 2017-2018 FOJ ANNUAL FUND!

We need you! Through the annual fund, FOJ helps to close the gap between the CPS budget and what it actually costs to run this amazing school.

This year JCP turns 80! To celebrate this momentous occasion, we are setting an ambitious goal: $250,000! In order to achieve success, we need 100% participation from the Jones community. And, we need your help in accomplishing our goal by the conclusion of first semester at the end of January!

In the past, Friends of Jones has made numerous academic and extra-curricular grants that have touched every student. In addition to continuing our support of these programs, this year we plan to contribute to the funding needed for the renovation of the auditorium in the old (north) building built in 1966!

Every family's contribution makes a difference and your generosity is appreciated! Please consider making your contribution today and help us kick off this campaign and the school year with a bang!

How can you contribute?
Make your gift online, through your FOJ Access account, today right HERE! And be sure to track our progress on the annual fund thermometer hanging in the south building lobby.

With your help, Jones College Prep will continue SOARING TOWARD EXCELLENCE!

Thank you! Questions? contact

 Wanted: Law Internships
Jones College Prep Pre-Law program is an academically rigorous, four-year, Honors level course of legal study. Students enrolled in this program complete one Pre-Law course per year as part of Jones' award winning Honors and Advanced Placement curriculum. In addition to in-class study, senior students will engage in a legal job shadow/experiential learning opportunity during their final, capstone year of the Pre-Law program.

We request your support in the second year of Jones College Prep's experiential learning placements. Jones College Prep values our educational partnerships within the private and public sectors as well as the government and we look very forward to sharing our brilliant scholars with you. Internship hosts are asked to provide placements for one or two Jones scholars for a 20-week session from mid-October to April. Students will shadow for approximately four hours per week, divided into two-hour segments on week day afternoons. A schedule of specific internship days will be available in early September, 2017. Students' tasks and experiences may reflect the specific needs of host sites.

We are seeking community partners or their friends and colleagues within the legal profession, legal departments of corporations or government entities, law enforcement, judiciary or other professions associated with the legal field to consider engaging with this wonderful program.
Jones CTE Law faculty, Laura Blackburn and Emlyn Ricketts, will provide continuous and reliable support to our internship hosts along with extensive professionalism and internship-readiness training for our scholars. Internship placements are a valuable educational experience for these wonderful students and future members of the workforce. Please contact Laura Blackburn
at [email protected] with any questions.

Join us in providing a legal education to the next generation of leaders!

Respectfully,
P. Joseph Powers, Principal
