SMART DG HUB, FDNY WORK ON STORAGE
|
The CUNY Smart DG Hub is wrapping up the final pieces of the first phase of its work under the
NYSERDA-supported energy soft costs reduction initiative
, which has been underway since March. This initial phase included weekly meetings between CUNY, DNV-GL and FDNY code and safety directors, aimed at mapping out permitting & siting requirements. The CUNY Hub has concluded the initial weekly meetings and is now working with both industry stakeholders as well as additional Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ's) to gather remaining data that is still needed to finalize the group's comprehensive set of permitting recommendations. The first guidance documents for outdoor lithium-ion battery installations are anticipated to be developed for public use this Fall, and plans for technical assistance and trainings will be developed and announced by year's end.

Schenectady Solar Snapshot

"Sustainable CUNY is honored to have received national awards from IREC and SEPA, and in turn we honor our many partners for their time and commitment to making the changes within their organizations and agencies that have lead to the significant growth in solar. A key component to our success has been to invite all key decision makers to the table, even if they come reluctantly, to find common ground, as those who are part of making a plan for change are much more likely to see it through."
Tria Case, University Director of Sustainability and Energy Conservation, City University of New York, Lead of NYC Solar Partnership

NYSolar Smart is a strategic effort led by Sustainable CUNY of the City University of New York that supports Federal, State and NYC solar initiatives to strategically remove barriers to large scale solar deployment.
