Principal's Message
Parents,
Thank you to Andrea Slavet for arranging this year's swashbuckling book fair. I hope you have had a moment to stop in and enjoy the beautiful selection of titles to expand your family's library. It is always the students favorite time of year when the Book Fair and the Halloween Carnival roll around. Please join us this Saturday for free games and entertainment, as well as a last look at the Book Fair. We will have food and yogurt trucks here, too!
Thank you to Shelden Hyde for organizing our Read-a-Thon, a perfect complement to our Book Fair. We are so very fortunate to have a big, beautiful library full of a wide selection of fiction and non-fiction books for every reader. Thanks to all who help in our library and to PTA for their generous donations that help us buy more books!
Everyone is excited about our annual Halloween Parade Monday morning at 8:30. Students will parade around the track twice with their classmates and there will be plenty of time for photos after. We ask that costumes be appropriate for elementary school with no bloody or gory themes that would be upsetting to our younger students.. Please think safety first and check costumes for tripping hazards or visibility issues. We want everyone to have a great time and be safe and sound. Thank you.
Thank you,
Carol Nenni
Murwood Principal

Read-a-Thon
Read-A-Thon Dates Oct 24- Nov 7
For the first time in more than a decade, the Murwood PTA is hosting a Read-A-Thon. We are hoping this new fundraiser will raise money for Murwood Elementary while helping motivate our kids to further develop their love for reading.
Murwood PTA provides essential funds for: computers and technology in every classroom, professional staff development, the library and its media center, playground equipment, classroom and office supplies, disaster preparedness supplies, our garden area, community events, education assemblies, character development programing and so much more!
Personalized information sheets went home last week and reminder sheets went home earlier this week. Follow the link to your child's personal Read-a-Thon page. Every student that registers with the site receives a prize. Please inform your teacher if you have misplaced the sheet with your individual secret code; we can retrieve it. Also if parents have questions please contact the admin at [email protected]. Thank you for
supporting the Murwood PTA's Read-A-Thon. LET'S KEEP UP THE READING!

Reflections
We had 20 wonderful entries for our PTA Reflections program this year! Before they are sent off to the next level for judging, they are posted here at school in the cafeteria and the office window for us to enjoy. Please take a look at these next time you are at school!
