Principal's Message
Hello Loyola!

Welcome to the end of our third week of school already! The time has flown by. We are off to a great start with really good energy and good sense of positivity from our student body. We are hopeful to keep that going. I am seeing great leadership from our staff and students. I have to commend our senior students for taking on the role of responsibility in setting the tone for a positive school culture and they are sure doing that. They are also stepping it up in decision-making in leading our school. I am extremely grateful to Mrs. Kari Koester for taking the lead on being Student Council Advisor. Much of the credit for a positive start to the year needs to go to her as well.

In other good news, our latest ACT results are available. Congratulations to Loyola for a solid ACT comprehensive score. We scored  a comprehensive 24.8, well ahead of the state average and regional comprehensive average.

As we move into next week and beyond into October, we will begin our fall 2017 round of NWEA testing. While it is only one true test, it is an instrument of us being able to pinpoint where your child is at and to best target our instruction and assessments for them. Therefore, we do hope that students are "test ready" by being well-rested, fed appropriately, and in good mind and spirit.

Speaking of being rested, some of our Loyola students recently starred in a KEYC-TV story about the importance of sleep. Mrs. Kirschner, our H.S. Counselor also starred in the story. If you haven't had a chance yet to watch the story, take a look here.

We continue to pray daily for our friends in the south who are being impacted severely by the recent run of hurricanes. To those of you in our family who have family and friends in those areas, we are thinking of you and praying for you.

All my best to you on this Feast Day of the Blessed Virgin Mary!

  Adam Bemmels, Principal

Secondary 7-12  News
The Junior Class Retreat will be held  Nov. 15 - 17 at Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center.  We are in need of 4-5 parent volunteers to help chaperone.  If you are interested please email Sue Goebel for more details.

Please note: The 6th grade will still be attending Wolf Ridge next spring.
Juniors (and Sophomores who may take the ACT this school year):
Mrs. Goebel will be offering the first ACT prep workshop on Friday, 9/22.  Be sure to keep that day open for this valuable, free preparation for the science portion of the ACT.  Since that portion is always last in the test, it is important to get as familiar as you can with the tables and graphs they use before you take the ACT for the first time.
Seniors:
The Mankato Kiwanis Club takes turns each month honoring seniors from Mankato as their Kiwanis Student of the Month. The chosen senior and their family will be honored at their weekly luncheon at the City Center Hotel. If you would like to be considered for the Kiwanis Student of the Month...

*Please make a copy of the linked  Kiwanis Student of the Month Application, fill out and share with Mrs. Kirschner.
*Share a current Activities Resume with Mrs Kirschner on Google Docs
*Be sure your Activities Resume includes your TOTAL hours of Community Service/Volunteer Hours

Your Kiwanis Student of the Month application is due to Mrs. Kirschner  Friday, September 15 by  3:00pm.
