Dear St. John Paul II Community,
Happy Friday!
The past three days have been heart-warming to see children playing and laughing!
I cannot express enough how grateful I am for our amazing staff and to all of our wonderful parents for working so hard to help us begin slowly allowing the children to come back to their school family!
We have had a great beginning and we can see the children are excited about getting back into their regular routines. As we continue to work through the challenges of the traffic patterns, we will have a late start at 9:00 a.m. for September 11-15th. Next week, we will continue to not count tardies and will remain flexible with absences. Starting Monday, we will also begin returning to our regular curriculum, as the students are eager to be enriched academically. Teachers are working together with administration to monitor individual needs and will be accommodating to all students as we move forward with flexibility in our grading so that we can continue to monitor student academic growth. Please know that we are assessing and evaluating our plans to serve the children continuously so that all are successful during this transition. I appreciate your trust and support. Have a blessed weekend.
"Let us remember the past with gratitude, live the present with enthusiasm, and look forward to the future with confidence."
- St. John Paul II
In Him we trust,

Counseling
As our school community begins the Harvey recovery process, and as we start settling back into our daily school routine and adjusting to our new post-Harvey normal, our counselors are here to support the children. If you have concerns about a student during their transition back to school in the next few days/weeks, please do not hesitate to contact counselors
Laura Doherty
(PK-5) or
Betty Costantini
(6-8). Our students are blessed to have this wonderful StJPII family surrounding them with love and support during this stressful time.

If You Need Help
Thank you for taking the time to let us know that you have been impacted by Hurricane Harvey; our heart goes out to you. We received information about our families from teachers, Facebook, email, the survey, and sometimes even word of mouth. At this time, we believe approximately 15% of our families suffered some sort of flooding. In the coming days, StJPII staff is going to call you to assess your family's needs. However, in the meantime, if you need any immediate help or assistance with your current situation/uniforms/clean up, please contact
communications@jp2.org
or call the school: 281-496-1500.

Ways to Help
As you can imagine, the process of assessing each family's individual needs is taking some time. Each family is at a different stage of rebuilding. We are currently doing our best to organize work crews and volunteers to help provide relief. In the meantime, please continue to reach out to your friends and neighbors and lend a helping hand.
If there are any parents who are contractors, roofers, water restoration experts, etc.,
please send your business information to:
communications@jp2.org
