October 2016
From the Executive Director
We focus on the most important economy. Yours.

Congratulations to the 2016 Chamber
"Of the Year Award" winners:

2016 Chamber Business of the Year : Firtion Adams Funeral Service

2016 Nonprofit of the Year : Westfield Technical Academy

2016 Lifetime Achievement : George's Jewelers, Inc.

On Friday, October 21st, the Westfield Public Schools and members from the Greater Westfield Chamber of Commerce held their first meeting to develop ways education can collaborate with business and business can collaborate with education.  What a great meeting!  I want to thank everyone who took time out of their busy schedules to participate.  Here are the highlights:
  • We have a name! Westfield Business & Education Alliance, Working together for student success!
  • WEBA; I did hear Superintendent Czaporowski mention a logo will be developed by very creative students!
  • We broke out into working groups to start the process of brainstorming ideas to connect education to business and business to education.
  • The group will develop a mission statement.
  • The next meeting is Friday, November 18th at the Reed Institute located at Mestek, Inc.
  • Please contact either myself or Superintendent Czaporowski if you would like to become a member of this group.  We want your time and talent!
With my recent appointment to the Advanced Manufacturing Collaborative in September, they give you three months to take your oath of office.  I had the distinct pleasure of being sworn in by Ed Palleschi, director of boards and commissions on the balcony of the State House!

We are pleased to provide you with many opportunities to stay informed, to network, and make connections! Remember, if you work the Chamber, the Chamber works for you!

Best,

Kate Phelon

Founded in December 2000 in Atlanta, GA, Moe's Southwest Grill® is a fun and engaging fast-casual restaurant franchise serving a wide variety of fresh, made-to-order Southwest fare in a welcoming environment that rocks.
The first thing you'll hear when you walk into the restaurant is an enthusiastic,  "Welcome to Moe's! ® " It's more than just our rally cry. It embodies the entire culture. Everybody is welcome at Moe's. Except, of course, fugitives.

With more than 20 incredibly fresh ingredients like all-natural chicken, grass-fed steak and organic tofu to create one-of-a-kind meals, Moe's has everyone covered, from meat lovers to tree huggers to vegetarians and flexitarians. While we are best known for our awesome burritos, our menu also features kids', vegetarian and low-calorie options - all served with free chips and salsa.

The only thing we don't have: microwaves.

From our menu items with fun, pop-culture inspired names like Earmuffs, Wrong Doug, Close Talker and Joey Bag of Donuts to our killer, hand-selected playlist of tunes that pay homage to dearly departed musicians, it's safe to say we roll to our own beat.

Moe's currently serves the most awesome Southwest fare at more than 600 locations in the United States and abroad. In August 2007, Moe's Southwest Grill joined FOCUS Brands Inc. Atlanta-based FOCUS Brands Inc. is the franchisor and operator of over 4,300 Carvel® Ice Cream, Cinnabon® Bakery, Schlotzsky's® Deli, Moe's Southwest Grill®, Auntie Anne's® Pretzels and McAlister's® Deli locations, as well as the franchisor of Seattle's Best Coffee® on certain military bases and in certain international markets.

Florence Italy, the city of leather.  My name is Susan julietta Williams and I had the pleasure of getting to live in Florence Italy for part of the summer last year. As I walked through the marketplace I took in the smell of the leather and saw the array of fine, soft Italian leather handbags in all sizes, shapes and colors with the most amazing European styles. The thought that came to my mind, is how can I get these amazing one of a kind Italian Fashions to my family, friends, colleagues  and others who appreciate carrying a quality European handbag. I wanted to import these Italian handbags so everyone could  experience what it was like to have an Italian leather handbag

I am pleased to have a new company, Romeo & julietta BAGS.  I will offer on this website for sale amazing handmade leather Italian handbags, messenger bags, pack packs, briefcases, belts, small, medium and large handbags in various styles as well as accessories.  I will also offer Italian leather key chains, coin purses and wallets.  I will have for fall a great variety of cashmere lined leather Italian gloves in beautiful colors.  I will also be adding Italian accessories in the coming months, Italian silk scarfs, murano glass jewelry  etc.
