HUMBLE ISD STRONG
When we were all doing back to school shopping in August, who would have thought September 7th  would be the first day of school for many students in Humble ISD? Hurricane Harvey certainly wreaked havoc on the lives of many in our community. However, we have also seen many blessings from this storm... neighbors helping neighbors, strangers helping soon to be friends, people reaching out to support our community from all over the  United States.

Although the start of the year might look different then we planned, the Humble ISD community has risen to the challenges Harvey brought and this week, teachers welcomed students with open arms. We look forward to the same warm welcome being extended to Summer Creek and Kingwood High School next week.

A couple of months ago, the Foundation selected this year's theme for their annual fund campaign to be "One Team, One Dream". We have truly seen evidence of this in our communities this past couple of weeks as we all worked as one team for the dream of a better day for our families. Thanks to you, that better day is here and it is just getting better with each passing day.

Together, we are Humble ISD Strong.

How You Can Help: Hurricane Harvey Relief
Humble ISD Education Foundation is working closely with Humble ISD to determine what needs have arisen due to Hurricane Harvey. Kingwood High School, the Instructional Support Center and the Kingwood FFA Barn all suffered significant damage. As Kingwood High School and Summer Creek High School share one high school campus, there are potential new programs and supplies needed to help in this transition year.  As more details are determined, we will share those with our supporters.

We have heard from several Humble ISD Alumni and former employees across the United States who have made donations to the Foundation to help Humble ISD during this time. If you too want to be part of moving Humble ISD forward in their recovery from Harvey, you can donate here.

To help families impacted by Hurricane, please strongly consider supporting the Lake Houston Area Relief Fund. This fund will assist victims that have been affected by the floods. You can learn more by going here.

NO PLACE LIKE HOME
Before North Belt Elementary students set foot in their classrooms, they already knew they had a second home at school. North Belt educators went to neighborhoods knocking on doors and welcoming their students as part of the grant "No Place Like Home". While many families work on rebuilding their houses and getting back to normal, they find comfort knowing their children have a place to belong at North Belt Elementary. AN ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE
As we look past Hurricane Harvey and work in rebuilding our community, we thank you for your continuous support. On our 2016-2017 Annual Gratitude Report, we used a great quote Elizabeth Solomon, a teacher at Summer Creek High School sent to us.  She said "Thank you for your efforts and energy spent to make sure teachers and students are receiving everything they need to create an effective environment for education".  This statement of gratitude to you, Foundation donors, is relevant every day, but especially in light of the support the Foundation is giving to teachers and students now that were impacted by Hurricane Harvey.
