WINTER WEATHER ALERT!
Winter Storm Jonas

As I'm sure everyone knows, winter storm Jonas will be hitting Massachusetts this weekend, and we cannot stress enough how important it is to keep your generator shoveled out from snow.

You must have at least 3 feet of space around the generator cleared of snow so you or our technicians can get to the generator easily if need be.

This is NOT a proper way to shovel out a generator!

There is not enough space for you or the technician to work on the generator.

Snow is completely blocking the unit allowing a higher chance of ice to form and build up inside as well as disallowing air to get in.

It is EXTREMELY important to keep your generator shoveled out for a few reasons:

 1) our technicians need to access the generator for maintenance and other
      service calls
 2) the generator will freeze because the snow acts as insulation causing the
inside of the unit to freeze
3) snow can get into the intake valve and ice up the brushes which are an
important piece of the generator that creates electricity

DO NOT TAKE A BLOW TORCH TO THE GENERATOR!

MORE IMPORTANT TIPS . . .
  • Shovel out around the generator and keep it clear of snow.
  • Make sure the generator is in the AUTO position.
  • Check the oil level - check our webpage for instructions
  • If your fuel source is propane, check the tank to make sure there is enough propane in it - do this by looking at the gauge.
