Hurricane Irma Update
September 8, 2017: Important Information On The Storm

THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH IS UNDER A HURRICANE WARNING.  NOW IS THE TIME TO EVACUATE.

The window for safe evacuation is beginning to close. It is important that you make any final accommodations now. If you plan on staying in the city, we advise that you inform a friend or family member that is on the mainland of your location. We could begin to feel the effects of Hurricane Irma as early as tomorrow morning.

Here are a few updates on city services:
  • There will be no garbage pick up until further notice. Do NOT leave garbage outside they will become projectiles.
  • The Miami Beach Trolleys are running and will pick up from established County pickup stops and take you directly to available shelters. Click here for the list of pickup locations. Anyone needing evacuation assistance should call 311.
  • The City's trolley service, including emergency evacuation service, will cease operations three hours prior to sustained winds reaching speeds of 39 mph.
  • Once winds reach 39 mph, first responders will no longer be dispatched for rescues due to dangerous weather conditions.
  • All beaches are closed. Please be aware that the Ocean Rescue team is flying double red flags and advising all beach goers that the beach is under mandatory evacuation.
Reminder: The causeways will remain open to vehicular traffic, however we urge you to stay put in a safe place. Beginning at 8 p.m. tonight, the draw bridges will remain in the lock-down position so that boats may not pass.

We will continue to send updates and information as long as we are able to. Continue to monitor the city's social media accounts for updates and information.

This is a very powerful storm and should be taken seriously. Stay safe!
