ABC Carolinas responds to
PLA survey

The Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of the Carolinas has issued a Union Watch Alert in response to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) survey soliciting comments on the potential use of a government-mandated project labor agreement (PLA) within the Wilmington District and surrounding area under the NC/VA General Construction MATOC.
"ABC is leading the fight against government-mandated project labor agreements in federal contracting. PLAs reduce competition, increase costs, and impede the economy and efficiency of government contracting" said Chris Bullard, director of government affairs for ABC.

NCCER's Instructor Certification Training Program (ICTP)
is one step in helping build a stronger skilled workforce for the future. By preparing craft instructors to deliver needed training, the ICTP is a small part of the larger construction workforce development system. The ICTP is designed to prepare craft instructors for their place in the classroom using NCCER Curricula. This ICTP course will cover the following modules:

ABC's Construction Backlog Indicator Rebounds in 2017
|
Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) today reported that its Construction Backlog Indicator (CBI) rose to 9 months during the first quarter of 2017, up 8.1 percent from the fourth quarter of 2016. CBI is up by 0.4 months, or 4 percent, on a year-over-year basis.
