Florida Blue became the first million-dollar corporate donor to the building by naming the Florida Blue Health Knowledge Exchange, an advanced public library that will serve as a hub for connecting people and ideas through digital technology.

Other recent milestones include: 

• New conceptual renderings are available as construction of this signature landmark building is scheduled to start in August
• The downtown district has been named Water Street Tampa, with its first vertical construction being the medical college and Heart Institute, which is slated to break ground in August
  
• USF and city leaders welcomed Sam Wickline MD, a renowned cardiologist and NIH-funded researcher, as the founding director of the USF Health Heart Institute, to be located in the downtown building

This building will serve as a key anchor in the new Water Street Tampa district, a transformation of 57 acres of Tampa waterfront by Strategic Property Partners. The development is expected to create up to 9 million square feet of new commercial, residential, educational, entertainment, cultural and retail space with a total investment exceeding $3 billion once all phases are complete.
