Please join the Islamic Speakers Bureau of Atlanta for the 2017 Change Makers Awards Gala on  November 4, 2017  at the beautiful Cobb Galleria at  6:30 pm  as we recognize and celebrate the contributions of leaders in the metro Atlanta area.   These  leaders are making Atlanta what it is today.  This will be an opportunity to network, celebrate accomplishments,  and unite as one community .  The awardees will be announced soon.  The ISB is very honored to announce that  Mr. Bill Nigut, Senior Executive Producer at Georgia Public Broadcasting, will be our Emcee for the Gala.

This is an event you do not want to miss!  Ticket sales will be coming soon.

On behalf of the ISB, I want to thank all of our donors and supporters who provide us with the financial and moral support. Without you, we would not be where we are today.

On a personal note, my family and I are very grateful to the many people who donated to the ISB in honor of my late father. Your kindness during a very difficult time helped me and my family greatly. Thank you!

ISB Provides Over 1200 Lunches this Summer to School Children!

The ISB just completed its 12th year preparing and delivering lunches to underprivileged children as part of the Fayette County Summer Lunch Program. The ISB and the Islamic Community Center of Atlanta (ICCA) joined local churches and synagogues to provide these free lunches during the summer months to school-aged children in Fayette County who normally receive free lunch during the school year.

For the past 12 years, these organizations  have been purchasing, preparing,  and delivering nutritious lunches to the homes of children in Fayette County as part of the Summer Lunch Program. Each organization met on different days of the week to prepare then deliver the lunches. This year, the Muslim Community has been blessed to have two new organizations join the efforts; the Church of the Nativity and Bani Israel. This is the first year that these two congregations have participated with the Fayette County Summer Lunch Program: this is truly special since the three monotheistic faith traditions are now working together. The ISB hopes to continue with this project and many more to come.

The ISB would like to thank its Summer Lunch Program leaders Amani El Ghoroury and ICCA leader Nicole Kopko for their leadership. "I would like to acknowledge and thank Nicole Kopko for her amazing dedication and leadership of the Summer Lunch Program. Her involvement (as well as her two awesome boys Saleh and Karim) are vital to this program. I would like to give a sincere thanks to such a wonderful friend!" said El Ghoroury about Kopko. The ISB also thanks the Islamic Community Center of Atlanta community,  donors, volunteers, drivers, and substitute drivers that have been dedicated to making our 12th year a success!

Attendees left the workshop determined to find a way to understand those different from them at a deeper level. They also enjoyed  learning about the diversity and how each individual may be so different based on culture, upbringing or religiosity as well as many commonalities of the faiths.
