Grade 12 programs

Grade 12 students at both school enjoyed leadership programs prior to the start of their school year. YOC 12s camped and did activities during the day UO 12s participated in activities at Mrs. Weinberg's cottage. Students started classes the next day with a real sense of purpose and greater confidence in their roles as school leaders. Thank you to Mrs. Weinberg for hosting and chaperoning; to Ms. Bessin for chaperoning; and to our YOC chaperons, Rav Yair, Rabbi Sonenberg and the single shlichim.

UO Sister Assembly

The theme in Ulpana this year is to Live fully now/לחיות את הרגע. To kickoff the theme, we had our initial sister program. All the big sisters and little sisters met with each other, and with their extended 'coffee' family. They competed as a family in an escape room where they had to notice all the clues and details around them in order to win. They ended off with a video introducing the theme and of course there was ice cream, music and dance to be enjoyed by all. The link to the video can be found here.

YOC Colour War Sports Program & First Mishmar

Toward the end of the day Thursday, YOC students participated in a Colour War activity afternoon. The program began with a Kahoot trivia game, with questions on Or Chaim and Torah. Students then had choices to play basketball, volleyball, chess, soccer, science building, ultimate frisbee or an art challenge. School-wide games included bump and dodgeball. Across all 4 grades, students enjoyed getting to know one another better, meeting new faces and having fun. The camaraderie continued into a beautiful mishmar of singing and words of Torah. Thank you to staff who took the lead on preparing the day; to student leaders; and to everyone for participating!

A Note About Almore Ave

There will be new parking and stopping restrictions put forward on Almore Ave on both the north and south sides. The south side regulations will be in effect for the entire day (until 6:00pm) and the north side regulations during drop off and pick up. These will hopefully improve flow of traffic and safety of our students most importantly.

The Acting Director, Transportation Services, North York District recommends that North York Community Council:
1. Authorize parking for maximum period of 15 minute from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday to Friday on the south side of Almore Avenue between Faywood Boulevard and a point 78 metres east.
2. Prohibit Stopping in effect from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, on the north side of Almore Avenue, between Faywood Boulevard and Granite Street.
