A Message from the Superintendent

Dear Lovejoy Community:

Thanks to the generosity of the Lovejoy Community, our Foundation for Lovejoy Schools has contributed almost $3 million to our district over the last 10+ years. The Foundation's capital campaign is now underway; details are listed below regarding the avenue for giving.  The generosity of our community was also demonstrated once again by the outpouring of support for the Help for Houston Campaign.

I hope the school year has gotten off to a smooth smart.  Please let me hear from you on our areas for improvement. You can always reach me on my cell at 972-415-8129.

Lovejoy Launches SAT Prep Course

In order to plug the financial hole created by the loss of state funds, we received suggestions to look at those areas where Lovejoy parents were already spending money to benefit their kids outside of the school program. That idea spawned our new tuition-based Pre-kindergarten program. Now, we are ready to launch the second suggestion received - SAT prep course. Several Lovejoy teachers, who have been teaching SAT prep outside of our district, will begin teaching a course on September 18th to prepare students for the November SAT course. Details regarding registration will be sent to Junior and Senior students through Naviance. The introductory offer for the Lovejoy SAT Prep course will be $599. Space is limited to ensure small group instruction.

Leadership Lovejoy Cohort

Dear Lovejoy Community,

I hope each of your students has experienced a great start to the new school year. As I begin my thirteenth year in Lovejoy, I can't help but reflect upon the many special qualities that define what we have come to call The Lovejoy Way. One special quality is the partnership the district shares with parents and community members.

The district developed the Leadership Lovejoy initiative to help strengthen and expand our strong partnership with parents and community members. The Inaugural Class met during the spring of 2014 and graduated a class of 23. To date, Leadership Lovejoy graduates total 108. Leadership Lovejoy was created as an opportunity to inform participants about the history, educational practices, programs, and philosophy of Lovejoy ISD. This is also an opportunity for Leadership Lovejoy members to provide feedback, ask questions, and share ideas to help the district improve.

2017 is the centennial year of Lovejoy ISD. As such, the structure of Leadership Lovejoy has been redesigned. The cohort is limited to 25 members, and will have five face-to-face meetings over the course of the school year. We hope this "every other month" meeting structure will be more conducive to busy schedules.

If you would like to apply to be part of the Leadership Lovejoy Cohort, please click here . Applications should be submitted by September 21.

Whether your schedule will allow you to be part of the Leadership Lovejoy Cohort or not, we greatly appreciate your second-to-none partnership and feedback.

We hope you continue to love where you learn.  If you have feedback to help us improve, please do not hesitate to contact me on my cell at 214.385.1967.

Respectfully,
Dennis Muizers

A New Tradition
Chant of the Week

The Lovejoy High Cheer Team is pleased to announce the new tradition of "Chant of the Week."

In an effort to increase school spirit and crowd participation at games, the LHS cheerleaders taught the LHS student body a new kickoff/punt tradition at last week's pep rally. We hope the community will join us as we share our school spirit at football games.

District-Wide News

Lovejoy ISD Pre-Kindergarten
Space Available

Our district has offered a Pre-K program as a part of our employee daycare program for the past 11 years. On the suggestion of parents, we decided to expand that program and offer a tuition-based program open to our community. We currently have two Pre-K classrooms open at Puster Elementary. This program offers enhancements in music, fitness, art, library, science, technology, engineering, and math. We are enthusiastic about providing a Lovejoy education for community members looking for a rich learning experience which will provide a firm foundation for kindergarten and beyond.  The first week of school we received an email from a parent with a child in the program and this is what she said:

"My daughter loves her new school and runs to get dressed every morning (used to throw a fit). Her teachers are great."

If you are interested in applying, please click here .  To schedule a tour of the Pre-Kindergarten program, please contact Stacey Dillon at 469.742.8003.
