My Country. My Vote.

It's not hard to create a list of reasons why people might opt out of voting. Many may feel frustrated with the candidates, or turned off by government itself or the election process. It may be easier to just stay home, and not get involved.   But your nation, and your city, needs you. Voting is a fundamental act that keeps our communities functioning. Every citizen has the ability to decide on who represents us at the local, state or national levels - but only if you exercise your right to vote.  In our work with business leaders, university and nonprofit colleagues, and everyday citizens, we hear the passion for making our city and our nation always better. Your vote is your voice. Everyone matters, regardless of economic status, religion, etc. Let's make Worcester proud. Be part of your corner of the world. Get out and vote on November 8!

National Philanthropy Day and Giving Tuesday

November 15 is National Philanthropy Day which celebrates the charitable work that everyone does to make a difference and create impact in their communities. Whether you're a donor or a volunteer (or both!), young or old, no matter how much you give or what causes you support-what you do from the heart makes a difference! And you make a difference every day! Soon after that is Giving Tuesday which this year is observed on November 29. Following Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday is  a movement to create an international day of philanthropy at the beginning of the holiday season. After doing your in-store and online shopping be sure to save a little extra to give to your favorite nonprofit.

GWCF Mini-Grant Program

Did you know that GWCF has a Mini-grant program?  Mini-grants are one time discretionary grant in the amount of $500 to $3,000 made to nonprofits in Worcester County for: pilot projects, organizational improvement, restructuring, and equipment purchases. A total pool of $50,000 has been set aside for mini-grants this year. Some of the 2016 Mini-grants which have been allocated are for new signage for the Blackstone Heritage Corridor, new playground equipment for the Guild of St. Agnes, professional development for Music Worcester, a website redesign for Preservation Worcester and a planning grant for Children's Friend Inc. November NSC Sessions for Nonprofit Leaders
